Just wait until the AT&T service that Comcast has installed in their offices is available for us mere mortals. This will seem like dial up, I've been told...

Oh, I don't know - he's doing better than me and I'm paying $60/month for my 'service'.

Did you get the "economy" package, too?

No, I have Hughes Satellite. No cable or DSL available, hardly a cell phone signal out here in Cornfield County. :)

And to think just 10 years ago most people would have killed for a home connection that fast.

I can remember my first connection of any type was a 14.4. That was the top speed and in most cases it was actually much, much slower. I can remember editing the init strings trying to squeak out an extra bit of speed. Or calling the phone company to make sure there was a single piece of copper between the phone box and the house. Dialing in to the ISP over and over again until you got a decent connection to be able to surf using Netscape Navigator. And gaming against friends consisted of calling into each other's computer and you could only play one on one.

Dolomite

yep, but this is what I'm used to. Big difference.

He's using Comcast. There's a big prob either in the pipe or in his home system.

So far I'm impressed with the speed however I've been seeing the Internet connection drop sporadically which kind of hurts my ability to stay connected via VPN to work. Adding insult to injury, I'm also getting calls for someone else on the phone number that they had provisioned for me. That started about 5 minutes after they installed it. Ugh. Time to change the number again.

I had to schedule the tech to come back out tomorrow to address the connectivity issue. :koolaid:

David,

I assume that's happening with your router connected to the modem, and the computer connected to the router?

I've been having the same issue. connected directly to my wall plate (our internet here is internally wired), and my computer directly to the router, and my sporadically drops off as well, and sometimes right in the middle of a big download.

i've tried adjusting my router settings and my MTU but to no avail. happens several times a day. I'm using the Linksys E3200.

If I connect directly to the wall plate, I don't have any issues, but I need the router to play my PS3 online and wirelessly connect my laptop, and so i can also access my files while at school via my VPN.

I've been meaning to call them out on my connection speed. Before, when I was gaming and my wife was surfing the web, there wouldn't be an issue--until a few weeks ago. Now playing Modern Warfare while she's doing anything is like pulling teeth.

First thing to do before calling is to ethernet puter directly to modem without router and also bypass the last splitter tween modem and cable into it, confirm same low speed that way, something they'll generally have you do anyway.
