To me, the winner would depend on the type of vampire. If they chose the modern, whiney vampire that just wants to lay around and lament his/her undead condition then I'd have to go with the zombies. In fact, I'd be rooting for the zombies. If they chose the type of vampire I like to read/watch movies about - the kind that is ruthless (even when they are the protagonist of the story) and that kind of likes not getting older, not being susceptible to disease and generally being a bad ass then I'd have to go with the vamp.

Of course, there is a creature in literature and some folktales that is akin to both. They are called revenants and were originally depicted as corpses that return to 'life' and often terrorize the family/firends of the deceased. Some versions, however, depict them as having nothing human left. In the latter version they are often mindless, bloodthirsty, bestial undead creatures with an insatiable hunger for blood/flesh that are actually more like modern 'zombies' than the original zombies from voodoo legend, etc. or the original tales of revenants, for that matter.

There are just so many factors. One on one, a vampire is going to win every time. They're smart, fast, can fly, etc. If the zombie horde comes into play though, the tables can turn. Then you have to consider the generation of zombie in play. The fast as hell undead from Dawn of the Dead with Ving Rhames are a way bigger problem than the slow stoops that were coming to get Barbra.

It's a tough call and about time someone applied some science to the question.

When the zombie bites the vampire you get a zompire, that would be the greater. It would take out both parties.

Give me a REAL vampire like Strahd Von Zarovich. He could lay waste to every Zombie in a 100 mile radius.

Ravenloft series... good books!

Either way it is still the vamp, hands down. So they can run fast - zombies can't fly. Numbers don't matter when you can turn to mist and float away if you are overwhelmed. The vamps I am thinking of are the type that are ten times stronger than normal humans (or zombies), may have superhuman speed (much faster than even the 'fast' zombies), can call animals to their aid (wolves, rats, even cockroaches) and can crush a zombie's skull (and brain) with their bare hands/fists. The only 'advantage' zombies have is that they can tolerate sunlight. Shouldn't be too hard for a vamp to find a nice, safe, dark place to spend the day.

i watched it. vamps won . 3 against 169 .zombies should have come out on that one.

I'm with one on this one, no way that last vampire could wipe out all the zombies the way he did. He would make one swipe and five or six would fall. But it does makes me believe numbers do matter when confronting a foe, better be accurate and have much ammo.

I feel dumber for having watched that....

Exactly why I didn't watch it!

In the end, zombies win. Vampires can't drink from the dead, so buh-bye due to starvation. Plus, when they get infected (and they will when starvation makes them do stupid things), they'll stupidly shamble right into the sunlight.

I can't believe Deadliest Warrior actually went there. The doctor guy must get teased every single day at the hospital.

Vampires can't drink from the dead,

Get a dose of dead man's blood in a bloodsucker and he's a vegetable until he can metabolize it. Depending on the dose, that could be a while.
