Got the same gun myself. I like mine for the most part. Still in load development at this time. Sadly I have had mine for almost 3/4 of a year now and haven't found what it likes the best...yet. I haven't been at it very hard though. I do little shooting in the summer. 40gr v-max hasn't been a great success yet. I'm now into some 50 and 55's v-max. Should do a little better I'm thinking. If it doesn't come around...I am gonna turn it into a 221 Fireball for the heck of it!

Enjoy! :)

Probably will do just fine with factory loads. I only shot factory loaded ammo in my customers firearms for test fire purposes. My rifles haven't seen store bought in a few.

I think those 10's have a 1-9 twist if I'm not wrong. 50-55 gr should be about right if your going for varmint type bullets.

They can have either 9 or 7 twist depending on the actual model. I like and use Savages for builds because they are so user friendly. I can do a caliber swap in about 10 minutes now. I tighten the barrel down onto brass I sized. This makes for a tighter chamber and helps my brass last much longer. I only use sized brass for setting my headspace and it isn't an issue if I don't plan on shooting factory ammo. Even if I do decide to try some factory ammo I will just loosen the barrel and retighten it down on the factory bullet.

It might say the twist on the barrel next to the writing. I know the barrels I have do have the twist rates on them.

My 223 7 twist barrel shoots .4's with handloads it likes. I have never tried any factory ammo.
