I was fortunate enough to get a 3 day weekend. My copy of dead island arrived yesterday and my initial impression is disappointeder than hell. I haven't played online multiplayer or co-op, and most likely won't. If you are a big L4D fan, like myself, Dead Island is a big disappointment.

Thanks for the heads up. Sorry you had to be the guinnea pig.

Bought if off Steam, and regardless of the missadventures that was the digital release, I am quite enjoying it so far. It's like a mix of Dead Rising and L4Dead. Give it chance, most folks wont be disappointed or at least I wasnt.

Hey guys disregard my last. I didn't enjoy it last night because I took a break from my 12 hour season 1 of 24 marathon. Or because the australian accents reminded me of steve irwin. But, after a 12 hour work day it was great to come home to some cold modelo and stabbing zombies in the face!

It took me a minute to get used to the tempo of mostly melee cleansing, now I love it

I'm glad to hear it! I've only seen the previews but it looks sweet. I'm next in line to get it on pass from Blockbuster.

I was the same as you Durty. when I started playing it I was disappointed with the game play because it was not what I expected but as I have been playing it more and it has grown on me. My only gripe at the moment is that I quit a quest right after starting it yesterday and when I loaded it up today the quest was farther long than where I quit at.... anyone else had this issue? it was the quest where you leave the russian pilot to get his SAT phone in the city.

I've been playing it for a little while. It's really buggy, but I have to say. It's very entertaining. It kind of reminds me of a cross between Borderlands (loot system & quests) and left 4 dead.

How was LFD 2 compared to the oiriginal? I really liked the first one.

LFD2 was LFD1 with melee weapons. Rocked just as much as the first and then some.

Thanks guys for the reviews , seems like a common theme for this game is that everyone doesnt like it at first and then you miss it majorly after you return it to gamefly, locally GameStop is selling used copies for $29 and if you buy any 2 used games you get a third free

I thought it was pretty fun, granted it wasn't the best game I've ever played but it was fun enough that I played through the single player campaign twice (once as the firearm specialist chick & the other time as the thrown weapon expert dude).

Anyway my internet connection isn't good enough to play the online multi/co-op stuff but I will probably play though the single player campaign again eventually.

I couldnt get very far, not due to skill but lack of interest. I greatly dislike melee weapons for most circumstances and guns were all but non existant

Yea they start you out with melee weapons but as you progress through the game you start finding various revolvers, pistols, shotguns and rifles, you mostly get them from killing other survivors (the groups who are hostile to ya anyway) but there is a side mission where you loot a gunshop in the city and you can snag some fairly nice weapons off of the store racks.

Oh yea I forgot about that one, also the firearm specialist chick also has her own personal revolver, she can only draw & fire it if her "fury" meter is full though.

Anyway at first since ammunition was so scarce I mostly reserved my precious ammunition for engagements with those other armed & hostile survivor groups, well that is until I got the blue-print thingamajiggs that allowed me to use workbenches to reload my own ammunition.

The body count got even higher after I found the blue-prints to make those homemade deo-bombs.
