looks like he either wasn't wearing a vest or it penetrated it. I hope he makes a full recovery. Tired of seeing stories like this.

Officer involved works in Auto Theft, and apparently was not wearing his vest according to some news reports. The most recent version is he was in the area when a robbery call came out to a restaurant in this area. Most of the Auto Theft detectives wear plain clothes and don't wear vests under their suits. This comes almost two months to the day the officer was killed in the line downtown answering a man with a gun call the 4th of July weekend.
