Has anybody had any experience with putting a 5.45 upper on a standard .223/556 lower? Will the .223 mags work with the 5.45? Thanks in advance for any help.

I have one and love it. I only tried using a 223 magazine once and it didn't work. It was a Magpul Pmag. The 5.45 ammo made the mag bulge and I couldn't insert it in the magwell. Now you can find the Cproducts 5.45 mags for around $10.00. If you buy a 5.45 upper get a chrome lined barrel. The cheap surplus ammo is corrosive.

And it's fun to shoot. How's it going Matt?

I have had one for a couple of years. It very accurate with the surplus compared to my AK's. I went with the S&W. CDNN had them on sale a couple of weeks ago for around $500.00.

If I build an AR like I am wanting to, I would put a 5.45 upper on it. Anyone know some good websites that sell complete 5.45 AR's?
