Selling in Trading Post without being Benefactor

Recommended Posts

I was wondering how some people are selling firearms in the Trading Post area without being a Benefactor?

I think that at one time, TGO David had a grace period of letting anyone sell without Benefactor status for about 2 weeks. They were allowed to keep their ad alive past that time till it sold. There some people on here that have been editing their original ad and placing new items in it for months now. Just trying to figure out how fair that is.

I thought that I noticed that myself not too long ago.

But since I did not understand just what was going on I did not think that it would be proper for me to say anything about something that I did not understand.:)

But I do think that Mike is right.

Wondered about this myself, I saw several listings by people that were not benifactors and have been on here for a while so I made an offer to make something for people on this site for way less than they can be found else where and go a warning email that told me I was in violation of site rules. Oh well I guess I was not a sneaky as others. No bad feelings on my part, I should have read the rules better

I'm guessing/betting his benefactor status expired??? I don't think you get a reminder when it does. He's had some of that stuff posted quite a while. A moderator would have seen that by now. I imagine that's what happened, his status expired, he didn't realize it, honest oversight.

The last one seems ok. He hasn't updated it or anything.

I would think you should still start a new thread for new items instead of editing the original. The titles of the first two listed don't even match what's actually for sale anymore (aside from the AMD). Just my opinion, which is worth squat. :)

Well, I didn't even consider back door posting. Shows how smart I'm not:)

Possibly: The user manager shows he has a paid subscription until 12-26-2011, but he's not in the benefactor group. Maybe he paid and David forgot to check the box?

Benefactor status is added and removed automatically by the forum software. I'll check into this and see what's going on.

That said, anyone who edits a previous thread to sell something else after their Benefactor status expires is knowingly trying to cheat the system and that's not cool.

Benefactor status was renewed by this user on 6/26 and then the charge was reversed by Paypal on 6/29. That can happen due to insufficient funds or because the user requested it from Paypal. Regardless, the user would have known that this happened.

Clearly there was also a case of the user continuing to list items for sale within pre-existing threads.

Ban issued. Threads removed.
