I don't' know about you all, but I"m tired of bringing 2 knives with me, one for city carry and one for everywhere else. This is a major pain.

I would expect they save the enforcement of this law for repeat criminals whom they can't adequately punish just for being a nuissance. Do you know if this law has ever been enforced as a standalone offense? There is a law in my town that you aren't allowed to traverse around the town square in a motor vehicle after dark with being escorted by a horse rider carrying a lantern. It isn't widely enforced.

Hi msparks,

Thought I would update you. The city attorney is behind on many projects due to losing his two assistant attorneys. However, the rework of the police section related to blade length has been deleted in a draft code chnage. In fact of the 44 sections in the city code (the knife part was part of one section), 20 are no longer proper or with the guidelines of the city to do due to being replaced by state law. So this opened the door to a major housecleaning of the police code enforcement in this section of city code. I still need to get it out of the attorney's office and to the council to officially approve it. That may take another month or two. I am pushing it from my end, but I have to wait for attorney time and the mayor gets first shot on attorney time. I just got one item (garbage can code update) to the council and I had it a couple of months before I got your request.

Just didn't want you to think I had dropped the ball.

Thanks

Bill
