Sons of Guns Desert Eagle fail

I wonder if taxidermists hate on "Mounted in Alaska" as much as internet-forum gunnies hate on SOG.

Going by the SOG haterade they dish out on the interwebz, I bet if I went to some taxidermy forum and posted, "Mounted in Alaska is pretty kewl, is that how you guys do it in real life?". . . I would probably get flamed from here to Hades. ;)

It's impossible to have a "reality" show on any subject with the professionals/enthusiasts of that subject giving it 100% approval. If SOG had everything I wanted, like DETAILED gunsmithing demonstrations, it wouldn't have lasted 3 weeks.

It's entertaining enough though for the reality-based format it uses (Extreme Home Makeover, American Chopper, etc.). Seems like a fun place to work.

Jerry Miculek going head-to-head with a full-auto. Heck Yeah! More stuff like that please.

Tannerite Armageddon Explosions of Doom are getting real old real fast though. No fun to watch that every week if I can't do it live. It's like watching the firemen ignite blasting caps in cub scout camp every summer. I don't want to watch, I want to play!

Speaking of . . . Steph's new-found cleavage. . . see above. :puke:

Y'all realize there are shows geared toward sports shooting, defensive techniques and of course hunting right? Not to mention gear reviews, historical information, minor gunsmithing and new tech. They're all on Outdoor Channel (Wednesday for shooting specific) and Sportsman Channel. If you can't find something that suits your fancy between these two channels, then you really ain't into guns anyway.

Shows | Outdoor Channel

The Sportsman Channel

Bash Sons of Guns and even Top Shot all you want but at least they keep gun builds and shooting sports in the eye of mainstream America. Ever stop to think that they may bring new blood into our "realm"? Curiousity can open the eyes of an individual into the good of our rights, sports and way of life.

I really don't give a flip about people being brought into our "realm". I'd rather they come in with a genuine curiosity instead of a "Daggum I want one-uh them there auto shotty blasters I seen on Sunofaguns."

I would rather have the support of many and ignorance of a few, than the support of less overall. The ignorant can be taught. My point being the more people we can have in support of the 2nd amendment and gun ownership is nothing but good for this country.

Curiosity will lead to better training, understanding and respect in the end.

Or take a perfectly good Thompson submachine gun and put a bunch of tactical crap on it.

That's the great thing about America we can all have our opinions. :D

But for the record when I get the money up for an AK, Red Jacket will definitely be my first choice.

My interest doesn't follow every item that show covers, however I do like a lot of the firearms coverage.

I just watched the Desert Eagle episode and I'm calling B.S. on the doctored video. No evidence she shot anything other than a DE.

The doctored video was the previews of her shooting the DE they probably got soo much hell that they removed it. There was not even any proof of her actually shooting it?

We really need to cut Red Jacket some slack. They're doing good things for all of us. My best guess... that very issue was mentioned when they were deciding to let the show happen.

I agree....yea they probably cut it on purpose. I just wish Hollywood wouldn't ruin it.

Well they may have changed it but in the video posted earlier in this thread, she is quite obviously shooting a Beretta. The slide of a Beretta is quite distinct and could not be mistaken for a DE.

Much adu about nothing. I just watched the episode, there was one shot when they were breaking for commercial where it looked like they used the re-shot footage. But for the actual scene you couldn't really see the gun at all until they showed a side shot of it, with clearly her hands on it as she shot it. Not to mention at the end when they showed her shooting it after they added the stock to it as well.

I'm still wondering what kind of idiot buys his wife a .50 caliber Dessert Eagle that she clearly can't handle to begin with? And why not... heaven forbid, get her a different gun that she actually can handle instead? Somehow I don't see that DE with the added stock fitting in her nightstand or purse...

We don't need to attack our allies... plain and simple

So when one of our "allies" does something completely ridiculous or unsafe (just as an example), we just say "keep up the good work"? No criticism? Constructive, and sometimes destructive, criticism is a fine and dandy way to keep them our allies. You don't reward a child for doing something wrong. When the NRA calls up and says that they support a new AWB, I would fully expect there to be some backlash. Just sayin.
