Free Hunting Day

Recommended Posts

Posted

Saturday, August 27th is the opening day of Tennessee's squirrel season. It is also "Free Hunting Day". That means any resident of the state, my go out and squirrel hunt free of charge. Hunter Safety regulations still apply. Take someone out and introduce them to squirrel hunting!

Be safe and stay Hydrated!

I got my first cup of coffee down. Now just waiting on my friend and his little son to get here then it's off to the woods! After I hunt I'll be working on stands and food plots. Then later today I'll be scouting dove fields for TGO member "Whiskey". In other words...it's a man day!

Why would anyone want to hunt in this heat? The meat would spoil before you get home with it, unless you bring a cooler and a bag or two of ice.

Someone needs to update this country's calender. I don't care what anyone says, the seasons have shifted. The first day of fall, ISN'T. If they'd shift the seasons they could shift the hunting seasons accordingly. There's a lot of good cold days to deer hunt long after season closes. Likewise, there's some stupid hot days when it opens. Ticks, flies, sweat, and potentially spoiled meat doesn't sound like a fun day of hunting, but apparently I'm a weirdo:)

I'm sure glad you recognized it, because I didn't want to have to tell you.

Go early, use permanon on your clothes and toss the game in a cooler in the back of the truck. At least that is how we do it. Squirrel opener has been hot all of my life. Dove opener has been hot all of my life.

That right there is what we call a whiskeism.

As defined by Webster ( the little kid from TV, not the book)

Whiskeism: A statement partially based on factual opinion.

Clear enough for ya?
