I want that poster, but $20 is steep.

Not really. Prints that size costs me 19.99 locally.

they're probably using cheaper paper but I doubt they're making more then a couple bucks

Costco charges $5.99 for a 16" x 20" and $8.99 for a 20" x 30".

There's a reason for that...

A person selling prints of something for profit, even for very little profit, want's and needs, high quality. Costco, WalMart, et al, can not provide that quality :screwy:

Not to mention the extra hassle that's involved with going to Costco to pick them up and shipping them yourself. Most quality printers will drop ship.

A lot of Pros use Costco… Excellent quality, not at all like Wal-Mart. Costco will ship everything they print.

A lot of "pros" use costco. Real pros use Blue Cube or other high quality printers.

Costco is the High Point of printers. Sure, they're better then Walmart (Jennings) but they're certainly not Blue Cube or

Bay Photo (Sig).

I used them once and it was good but my colors and lights/darks were off.

And I have had clients complain to me (as if it's my fault) after getting enlargements done there.

And even if they are using costco, et al, or have a bulk discount, they're still only making a few measly bucks for all of those hours spent drawing that toon...

I'm not a pro at anything, but just from my viewpoint, I would not want the name "Costco" attached to any of my products if I were in the business.

I work with a lot of photographers who use Costco for prints (and several that would never admit it).

For some services, guys will turn to Miller's, etc… but for most prints, Costco does a terrific job.

Costco and Blue Cube use the same Fuji paper. Not sure about Bay, but they specify sRGB or Adobe RGB of the printer profile when uploading. Neither is good–and sRGB has quite a small gamut. Costco posts color profiles from their devices online, updated regularly so perfect color matching is possible. I have never had a problem at Costco when I used their profiles.

The pro shops (like Miller's) do offer services that Costco doesn't deliver, but if you want standard luster or glossy prints, you just don't get a better print at the other places.

Take the Fuji prints out of the Costco package and put them in your branded envelope. Charge 10x what you paid for the prints. Enjoy.
