So I went out and bought a quart of this stuff after hearing how well it works. It has been the best $6 I have spent yet. It works as well as water, stays put and lasts much longer. No misting or steaming like with water either. I put about a 1-2 second squeeze down the muzzle end then give it a blow to clear the bullet path.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much so when I fired the first shot it amazed me. What little report there was before is now gone. It is quieter than a nail gun or even a pellet gun. In a bolt gun the bullet hitting dirt 25 yards away is louder. It also helps tame high velocity ammo out of my wife's Ruger with a threaded Pac-Lite. Before you could hear a slight difference between high velocity and subsonics but with the gel they sound the same.

I will say make sure to buy the clear. The yellow type seems to cause problems with suppressors..

Just thought I would pass it on to the other suppressor owners out there. The gell is worth the $6 if you are looking for the ultimate in quiet.

What does it turn into after it evaporates?

Not really sure but being water based a soak overnight should break it down.

I would be willing to bet hydrogen peroxide will also break it down. I am going to use it to clean the lead out of my can rather than take it apart all the time. I found a place that will take the lead acetate by product otherwise I never would use hydrogen peroxide to clean it. Lead acetate is some bad stuff. It is very carcinogenic and is readily accepted through the skin. It also passes through the blood brain barrier. Definitely going to have to use full precautions when dealing with it but cleaing out lead can't be any easier. Cleaning the lead is probably going to be a twice a yer job.

Been using it for a few years. When my brother bought his first suppressor the dealer had a few bottle of "suppressor gel" sitting on the shelf so he bought it to try. When we got home I started looking on the internet to see what the stuff was and found out about the wire pulling gel and have been using it ever since. I have also heard of people using personal lubricant, but I havent tried that yet....

There's a standing joke among my guys. Probably turns into a powder. Just squirt some into a saucer and let it dry. All I have right now is the yellow stuff. It turns into dry yellow stuff.

Gel is pretty handy. It's water based and doesnt evaporate for a week or two, but of course that means with aluminum there is some potential for corrosion to occur. It's best to shoot it out before you put the suppressor away.

Mine is a all stanless Form 1 .22 can. I have made it a habit of rinsing the can out evey thousand rounds or so. I generally run it under hot water for a few minutes then give it a shake and rinse.

I'll have to try that. I've been using ultra sound gel and so far it works pretty good.

Just to let you know, ultrasound gel doesn't dry cleanly. It will leave a residue that builds up in your suppressor. It washes off easily with water (a little soap is helpful, but not required) and light scrubbing by hand. If you can't open the can, cleaning might be more difficult. I have no idea how it will affect the metal.
