Nearly as sad as this man's death, is the fact that even with all the witness' that the taxpayers will pay to determine whether the monster is crazy or not crazy and either way they will be feeding and clothing him for who knows how long. He will live better than some of our soldiers do at times.

It may sound mean and cruel but his country did not become great by treating animals like this the way that we do now. Back then within weeks or maybe months...some times even quicker, he would have been tried, convicted and then hung in public. IF that is he even made it out of those woods. Back then this monster would have been long dead in less time than it will take for his actual trial to even begin these days.

As we all know the Wild West was not nearly as wild as Hollywood would lead us to believe....people PAID for their crimes back then and quickly too.

I do love todays technology but still wish quite a lot that I had lived back then rather than now.

Most East Coast cities had much higher murder rates than anywhere in the "Wild West."

Justice wasn't as swift in the east as it was in the "wild west".'

If you are curious, the last public execution in the USA was in Owensboro KY in 1936. It was a Hanging for a murder and rape.

Back on topic, I take my pistols walking with me, I figure they need the exercise just as much as me.

As Thomas Jefferson advised his nephew, "Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks."

Of course, it must be admitted that in this case it may not have done the victim any good. It doesn't appear, at least from the article, that he ever even saw the cowardly attack coming.
