Looking for a Memphis gunshop/smith

Hello, new shotgun owner here. I recently received a 12ga Remington Model 11 from my grandfather. He's 91 and hasn't been hunting in who knows how long. He couldn't really recall the last time he'd fired it. He recommended taking it to a gunsmith just to get it checked out before I tried firing it. I've tried Google and found a couple people listed, but have no idea who is or isn't any good.

Thanks

Congrats on the new to you shotgun! My step son recently inherited a Remington Model 17 20 gauge that is in the same situation. Probably hasn't been fired in over 25 years. I contacted Remington and they sent me a zeroxed copy of the original owners manual, its that old. We need to get it looked over and inspected before taking it out to shoot.

As NadieLite mentioned Mason over at Classic Arms is a good guy and a pretty good gunsmith. Arms Fair is also not too far from there and they just hired a new smith that started this week, I believe his name is Andy.

Get it checked out and let us know what you find.

Took it into Classic Arms this afternoon. Everyone there was real nice. I assume it was Mason who checked out the gun, never got his name (youngish, kinda tall, pretty skinny). Said it was in pretty good shape. Just had two minor things, the stock was a little loose which he tightened for me and the old rubber recoil pad was dry and cracked and starting to pull a little of the wood finish off. Told me just to keep the wood oiled and it should be good to go and to take it out and start shooting.

Went out and put 100 shells through it this weekend at a friend's out in the country. Shot well, cycled well, aimed well. I was nailing a milk jug about 40-45 yards out consistently. I think I'm hooked on shotguns.

Well, it started out about ten yards out and I just kept knocking it back. When it got to that distance, it would move when hit but wasn't really going any further back. I then paced it off when I was through.
