I was toying around with the idea of another 7.62 rifle. I wanted something to run a can on with little or no problem. Ran up on a deal for a M1A SOCOMII in a Viltor stock. Nice, but it's not the easiest platform to suppress. So the search went on. Found a Remington 770 AAC-SD at the Outpost Armory and thought "awesome...already threaded†Did some dealing for a Leupold Mark 4 scope. The wife’s employment is going to be changing 1st part of next year, and Donelson Computers has had a couple of good months so I decided to go a bit nuts and change out the stock as well. I have been reading about the flex in the AACs factory stock leading to some vertical stringing and figuring I’m going to need all the help I can get in the accuracy dept I decided to pickup one of the AICS stocks. 15 minute install and the remmy went from “nice†to “N I C Eâ€. I don’t know if I’d ever drop the coin needed to buy a “real†AI gun, so this is probably as I’ll get to owning one…and I’m Ok with that…at least for now :-)

(the picture sucks but my real camera is battery challenged at the moment)

Nice. Very nice actually.

As far as the "real AI gun" part. There's a difference between bench accuracy and practical real world accuracy. I would say that rifle has the potential for better "real world" accuracy than 90% of the world has the capacity to use. My .308 is CERTAINLY better than I ever will be. So what difference will it ever make, except a bunch of cash still in your wallet.

I think I want one now.
