Lousy Gun Show

I went to the gunshow in Memphis today. It was terrible. Brighton Arms had the only decent display there. It seemed to be mostly junk dealers, and the prices seemed high on most things. At least in my opinion.

You dont have to write "lousy gun show". There is no other kind. The internet has killed gun shows. In the old days, if I had a Dan Wesson Pistol Pack I'd be lucky if one of the 200 people a week walking through my shop wanted it. If I took it to a gun show I might find the one person in 500 or so who went through who wanted it. Today I put it on Gunbroker and the one guy in 20,000 who will pay stupid money for it 'cause he's gotta have it is going to see it and bid on it.

I wont show at one and whenever I go I am impressed by the high prices and low quality of stuff there. The only mystery to me is why people spend $10 to get in.

I find them entertaining. I think I get something for the ten bucks. It is like a cover charge in a bar, or even buying a ticket to the baseball game. Sometimes being entertained costs money.

Hmm, maybe I'll start charging a cover to enter my shop.....

That presumes that you're entertaining. :D

I haven't been to one in a while, but I'm not fond of them any more due simply to the fact that they usually don't allow concealed carry. Some may simply ignore the "no CCW" rule, but I won't even go (packing or empty-handed).

I'm pretty entertaining.

But look at it this way: you pay money to go into a gun show and walk around and look at guns you can buy, or try to sell yours. You can do the exact same thing in my shop. So why shouldnt I charge just like Bob Pope or whoever does?

Where is your shop? I may come check it out

I was not impressed at the MidSouth Fairgrounds gunshow yesterday. If you wanted something old and over priced, it is the place to buy it. Even the dealers at the show seemed to want more than i have seen inside stores. Not a lot of nice new or slightly used firearms.

I don't worry about 'no loaded guns' signs. They don't apply to me, since i have a handgun carry permit. What people don't know that is concealed does not hurt them.
