I got it out to my range today. I was lazy, so I used my pistol range. 48 yards max.

Here are the results. No plans for any add ons other than a couple cases of ammo and some stripper clips. The previous owner put some kind of peep sights on it and they work great. (He also took off the bayonet.) All in all not bad for $225.

Targets were shot @ 48 yards. Since I was on my pistol range, I did not have a bench, so I braced the rifle against a tree and fired. My first shots were on the right target and clustered a bit low. (nice inch and a half group however) The next 7 shots found their mark. Needless to say I am very happy with the rifle as is.

They appear to be the williams sights. Take the factory rear sight out and replace it with that one...they work very well and are inexpensive.

Peep sights almost always > regular iron sights.

Is there a breed name for your dog? Daughter has a cute pure-bred pound pup almost identical in size and appearance (unless I'm mis-judging the size of yours). Daughter's dawg is about 50 pounds.

My dog is an all but abandoned by her original owner, pure bred mutt.

She was hit by a car, and her previous owner wanted me to come over and shoot her about two weeks after she was hit by the car.. He never took her to the vet for any treatment, even though you could see her organs through her wounds. (I never considered shooting her, but I did consider shooting something else.) She is healthy and happy now. Great little girl.

At first I thought they might also be Mojo sights but from what I can see you're probably right.

Dogs don't care if they have a "breed" and it matters little to me, but have seen several pooches that look so similar to your dog and daughter's dog, was curious whether it is accident or intention. Your dog is a perfect twin to daughter's dog.

There are many "cur dogs" bred for specific purpose rather than strict appearance so was wondering if this phenotype may be an obscure example of such. Daughter's dog is a fast nimble underbrush scrambler and more addicted to fetch than most lab retrievers. If she loses a ball in the underbrush she will spend up to an hour sniffing every inch of the underbrush to find it. Dunno nothin about hunting, but those traits look like something a hunter might find useful, so was wondering if maybe the traits are intentional rather than accident. I haven't found web pictures of a cur breed with that appearance.

We had a rescue dog we found as a tiny puppy with parvo in a gully. Raised her to ripe old age thinking she might be a mix of Lab and Australian Shepherd. Only near the end of her life a vet identified her as a Boykin Spaniel. Looked up pictures and videos and sure enough the little dawg must have been either pure-bred boykin or real close to pure-bred. Not that the name mattered to the dog or owner, but it was just interesting.
