I have often wondered that myself. Perhaps it's because they are here and not there? The Jews that are here don't have to worry about a suicide bomber or a rocket landing in their lap.

Well, Jews and Israelis are not necessarily the same. I find the average jew in this country to be a poor excuse for their brethren in Israel. I'm not being anti semitic here, I challenge you to find a person here that has more love for the Hebrew people than me, but something happened to the ones here in the US. It's like they forget who they are and turn hippy. I feel embarrassed for them.

You have people like George Soros who bring shame and disgrace to every self respecting Jew alive.

Careful with this one. Many truly religious Jews believe that they are not supposed to return to Palestine and reform Israel until their Meshach (Messiah) comes to lead them all back at one time. Source for this idea comes from the Old Testament (Tanakh.) They also believe that the Meshach will immediately start rebuilding the Temple on the sight of the original temple and reinstate Temple worship ( follow all of the Laws of Moses.) This is something that the Israelis have shown no interest in whatsoever. In short, a lot of Jews (not just American Jews) do not believe that the nation of Israel today is the promised New Israel of the Bible. They are not erring in their beliefs, they are following them. Judaism and Israel are not interlinked as much as most Christian Americans want to believe.

That does not change the fact that Israel is a critical ally of the U.S. and needs our support. Just keep in mind that it is a political entity and not a religious movement.

Sounds kind of Old Testament doesn't it? Back then when He dealt more directly with His people, He usually gave them a good kick in the pants to bring them back around.

That's a very good point. I was referring to the ones that don't really consider themselves like your description above.

I know of quite a few that are non-practicing Jews that have adopted those very things I mentioned. Those I mention

are more political than religious, but they were born Jewish. Maybe I could have stated it better.Sorry about that.

I agree. Jews born here that I have met are nothing like the Jews born in Israel that I have met. They are complete opposites.
