Are there any courses in ne Tenn.(Knoxville/Sevierville/Kingsport) for personal handgun safety use? Perhaps not only defensive shooting but addressing issues of law, when it is appropriate to use your handgun etc? Though I must admit reading the forums on this website this past week have probably been more helpful than any class could be.

I perused their website, thanks. Oak Ridge is a hike for us as we live east of Morristown, I just sent them an email requesting their updated schedule.

I just read over the above website, they certainly do not make it easy to find where this is located.

Bob Camponovo teaches these classes at Cherokee Rod and Gun Club in Kingsport. www.cherokeerodandgunclub.com They are NRA courses.

Unaka Gun Club in Johnson City was doing this but I've been out of contact with them for a while. You could probably get a read on this from the gun department at Mahoney's Sporting goods in Johnson City.

Beat me to it jaypee.

I don't know Bob, but have heard some great things about him.

Do you have a good phone number for him. I found three, (423) 956-1230, (423) 239-3843 and (423) 378-8302 and an email at camponov@tricon.net.

Hi Marswolf,

Use the 3843 number. His Email service spits my emails back at me so I'd try the phone first. Since I posted the above I checked the club calendar and don't see his classes. So he may be doing them at some other facility or taking a break since he's now the Club President, although I doubt the latter. See what he says.

Unaka Gun Club has formerly combined the HCP class with an 8 hour basic handgun training course, but I don't know if they're still doing it. It was a very good idea.

Sevier Indoor Range has a monthly class. Check their website, or give them a call as it usually fills up about a month in advance. It,s about 30-45 minutes from Jefferson city.
