makes me sad

Got back from the range with my dad yesterday and we were cleaning the guns. He was looking at the hi-power clone I picked up from a pawn shop and commenting on the ugly black paint on it. Well after some talking we decided to take some paint remover to the slide. Beneath we found a beautiful pristine parkerized finish, aside from where the importer stamped their name. Where the metal got raised from the stamping, the filed it down to smooth it out and botched the **** out of the finish on that part of the slide. Aside from that, the rest of it looked amazing.

Why would an importer be so dumb as to mess up a really good finish and then use cheap black grill paint to cover the gun with? Makes me sad that I couldn't just do a detail strip of the gun and remove everything on the frame as well, that nasty mark on the side of the slide where they filed it made me take it to a local shop to be refinished. Going to have it bead blasted clean and a nice new parkerizing put on it. Hopefully it looks as good as the original. While I am at it, I think I may order some hogue g10s while I wait...they said it would be a couple weeks due ot the queue of guns that are waiting to be refinished.

Wish I snapped a couple pictures for you all before I dropped it off, but you better believe as soon as I get it back I will post some gun porn up.
