9MM 1911?

Does anybody have recommendations about a 1911 in 9mm? I would like it to have a rail. I would like to shoot it in idpa, etc, but would also probably keep it by the bed for home defense. Thanks

Can't speak highly enough about the Springfield Armory EMP 9mm. It's my daily carry and would make a good nightstand gun. It does not have a rail, however.

Have you ever thought about a 2011 (double stack 1911)? I have a 9mm Nighthawk Custom 2011 (built on a STI frame). It is a my favorite gun.

They are expensive, but STI makes some great 2011s if you are interested. The tactical version has a rail.

I don't know if it is approved for IDPA. Some of the IDPA guys will know.

I have browsed the sti website, but they are kind of pricey. I guess you get what you pay for?

I'm not a 1911 guy, but have you looked at Smith & Wesson?

Doesn't look like the 9mm versions have a rail on them though.... sorry.

Ria makes their standard version in 9mm I think if you want cheap. Not many are going to have a rail built in, add one isnt too pricy though.
