Anyone have experience getting Class 3 paperwork filled out in Gallatin City Limits?

What exactly are you trying to do? I successfully filled out the paperwork to assemble an SBR in Hendersonville and had the sherriff (in Gallatin) sign off on it. It's simple enough though, expensive and time consuming.

I have absolutely no experience, but I’m curious why you mention the city limits? The CLEO in Gallatin is the Sumner County Sheriff. Does the Chief of Gallatin PD have to sign off also?

In TN, you send the Form4 to the Sheriff of your county of residence for approval. Here in TN, they MUST sign the Form4 unless they know of a reason why you should not own a firearm. Call the sheriff's Office and ask the clerk how they would prefer to handle it. Here in Wilson County, I just drop off the paperwork and it's usually signed by the next day. I attach a nice note thanking them for their assistance. It never hurts to be polite.

With the exception of Davidson County. The CLEO of Davidson County is the Chief of Police; not the Sheriff.

Got the paperwork done and sent out yesterday. Had an easy time getting the signatures. By the way, the fingerprints were free at the jail...and you didn't have to be booked.

This.

I did mine last year. Called the Sherrif's office and got routed around to several different people. Then got a person who actually knew what to do. Told me to go to the Criminal Justice Center with all my forms and check in at the front info desk. You'll be sent to fill out a form stating why you are there, pay your fingerprint fee, and wait to be escorted upstairs and be printed. Took about 45 minutes from finding a place to park til I was out. And at that I chatted with a couple of officers and the fingerprint clerk. Really very simple. I'd be surprised if you got papers signed that day, as mine were mailed out in 5 days. I was told that was the norm. Perhaps if you knew the Chief or someone in his office, it might be possible to get signature while you were there.

It's pretty much a given, but dress neatly and be clean and courteous. Doesn't have to be suit and tie, although I did see one applicant dressed that way, but don't go in with a grubby kill'm all tee-shirt and ragged jeans. It doesn't hurt to present yourself well while there.

And to the big question...it was just about exactly six months til approval and my stamp. Actually thinking about another now, but waiting a little while to see what's up with the possible lifting of NFA regs on cans. I don't really think it will happen, but it gives me time to get everything in order.

You did use the supplied fingerprint cards I hope. The cards must have the BATFe's ORI number. You generally get them as a packet from the BATFe or from the class 3 dealer handling the transfer.

They were the 'blue' fingerprint cards at the Sumner Co. Jail. I got 4 sets, so if (when) I do it again I already have the fingerprints cards. They do have the ORI number.
