Satirical mints poking fun at Obama pulled from UT Bookstore.

Joe Armstrong, my rep. Figgers. Totally anti-gun in every respect, too.

....after local legislator Joe Armstrong told store officials he was offended by the mints.

That one statement sums up everything that is wrong with this country.

I don't care about R or D, rich or poor, white or black, blah, blah, blah. The attitude expressed in that one sentence, the willingness and complacency of the vast majority of people to pander to such attitudes and the simple fact that is how our society now works is precisely why we are well beyond f*****.

If you have the balls to fly an American flag and your HOA approves of it, do so at half-mast.

Apparently Joe Armstrong is tired of being a State Representative. ;)

Nah, he gets reelected no matter what. Except for the UT area, where few actually vote, his district comprises most of the poorest areas around here (so he thinks only criminals should have guns). And he's black, which garners at least 50% right off the bat.

No college will risk offending anyone these days. Knee jerk reactions like this are all too commonplace

Given the liberal slant of most university faculties, I'm surprised they showed up at all. While the whole thing is quite silly, I have to wonder... is this really newsworthy? There's nothing more important to talk about?

They gotta fill their 24 hours with something. Worse, they have to compete with other 24 hour networks that broadcast "something".

Yeah. Nothing newsworthy about an elected official stomping on that pesky 1st Amendment thingy. Who needs that free speech stuff anyways?

How is it a violation of free speech? A business chose to stop stocking a particular product because some loud-mouthed nitwit decided to raise a fuss. A business is free to choose what they do and do not sell. He didn't pass a law making it illegal to sell them, all he did was illustrate that the business managers are spineless. I'm sure other places will start selling them now because of the publicity.

The 1st Amendment only says that Congress shall pass no law limiting the freedom of speech. Says nothing about people getting their panties in a wad over some mints and them being pulled from the shelves. Now, if the lawmaker had attempted to pass some sort of legislation, then yes, that would have been a problem.

I just texted my son to try to get some at the

bookstore. I'm sure they won't be available, but

it will be a hoot if students started asking for them.
