How To Braid Your Own Paracord Lanyards and Bracelets

My kids wanted to try this so we hunted down some How To guides. These seem to be popular here, so I thought I'd share some useful links. I honestly can't see how people charge what they do for these at gun shows and such because it's incredibly easy and the fun of making them far outweighs the cost of materials.

If you've got kids and want to occupy them on a rainy day, or just want to make your own tactical jewelry, enjoy...

when you get tired of Solomons Bars, dive deeper into decorative Marlinespike Seamanship.. Look up Clifford Ashley because it is hard to find old Bo'suns Mates this far inland..

also search out a blog by a guy calls himself STORMDRANE

we use to make lanyard keychains and bracelets and necklaces and stuff at the summer camp I went to when I was a kid. I could do about 6 different colors at one time, they were lot's of fun. not the same as what David posted, but nice to revisit an old childhood memory.

Marking this thread so I can find it easier later. :)

Anyone know any good videos on wrapping a rifle? I have an Ishapore rifle I may play at wrapping the fore end. If it look bad I can always take it off, but I kind like the idea of the stowaway survival rifle with storage in the butt, paracord sling and wrapping. Being as it's not permanent I don't feel I'll be in violation of the anti-mall ninja act:)

Stormdrane's stuff is really good. I find TIAT (linked above by David) the most user friendly. If you really get into this stuff, the Ashley Book of Knots is THE reference guide for knot-tying.

So where can a fella buy some paracord in Knox-Vegas?

I just saw that Midway carries it. I make a monthly order to Midway so I'll just tack some on each time. Compared to ebay the price is reasonable. Several colors, $15 for 300 ft.

I have been making all kinds of things for a while now. The most fun was making gun slings and belts.

How 'bout sharing pic's and how-to's???

Last time I was in Cherokee(?) on Broadway had a pretty good selection of different colors.

Don't remember the price but seems it was not over $10.00 for I think 100 yards.

The only drawback is its not 550 para cord. It's similar but has thinker inner strands and isn't as easy to get clean ends as real 550. But he does have an array of colors
