Picked up a new gun the other day... traded the SR9C straight up for this baby...

After the Pachmayr grip I just put on it today... Anybody have any ideas on modifications?

Buy a barrel bushing now. There have been several people on here who have had theirs crack, including me. Other than that enjoy. Mine is more accurate than the Colt I used to own. I have close to 2,500 rounds through mine without a single problem.

Also, they take factory spec parts easily.

Love mine. The only thing I have changed thus far is the mag catch... I put in an EGW higher mag catch, because I was having issues with it not wanting to load the first JHP round out of a full magazine. It works great now. Oh, and I added a Pearce rubber grip insert, which gives me the finger grooves on the frontstrap, but lets me keep the original stocks. A heck of a gun for the money.

Get good grease for the rails and keep it "wet" and clean. From the looks of it what else is there to do but shoot it? Although you may want to change out the trigger if you think the shoe and its geometry is not to your liking. The beauty of the 1911 is the trigger. Other than that, like any gun, it is simply a "pipe and nail."

Put a whole 100 rd. box if WWB 255 gr. FMJ's through it today without a single failure.

The sights are a bit off. I need to adjust the rear sight, because it does shoot a hair left.

First set, aiming at dead center mass, standard 8 round mag, 15 yards away. Not speed shooting, just shoot-recover-shoot.

Figured I'd try a new target, just to make sure it wasn't me yanking the trigger, or my eyes just being off... nope... same exact result:

Aiming at the 8, 15 yards out, and this is the result with an 8 round mag:

All around, I MUST say.... this is one HELL of a deal of a gun. Traded my old Ruger SR9c straight up for this... and I honestly believe that I came out on top of that one. I freakin love this thing.

Muzzle flip is about par for a lot of other 5 inch .45's I've shot. Recoil is about the same as well. The thing I noticed different about this gun though... most other .45's I've shot, is that when the slide is at the rear-most point of it's travel, this one doesn't actually "hit" the frame. All other guns I have shot feel like the slide literally goes ALL the way back, to where the recoil spring is fully compressed. This gun doesn't feel like it does that. I may be totally wrong, but that's what I have noticed with the guns I have shot... I know for a fact my Ruger did it.

Overall, this thing gets a 9/10 for me. It's an uneducated rating, but just from what I feel when I shoot this thing, it is for sure something I want to recommend to people interested in an entry level sub-$500.00 gun.

Where did you find the 255 grain bullets? I think you meant 230 grain FMJ's.

I will say that my Metro mimics yours in performance. I did go through mine and swap all the MIM parts for forged parts because it was destined to be a carry gun. I have to have 1,500-2,000 rounds through mine now without a single issue. The only issues I did have were when it was new. The extractor was out of spec and the barrel bushing developed a crack. Other than that it has been great. It shot better than my Colt which got sold as soon as I saw that.

I had put it by the wayside up until recently. I made a new holster for it and now I am carrying it again. Having a comfortable holster makes a huge difference. I can't tell it is on my hip most times, even sitting isn't a bad thing anymore.

That is my fault. I did not catch the typo on my part. It even went on another forum without me noticing it. My apologies.
