Wow... great effort. I travel to Maine often, and it really bothers me that I cannot take my pistol with me.

Especially since I own land up there, and have hunted there for years!

Keep us updated on this, please.

Going to ask for an update this week..

But in the meantime you may want to check with the Maine officials since you own land there, you may can apply for a resident permit there. But even if not, Maine does issue non-resident permits.

I'll most likely have to apply for a non-resident permit, as they wont issue a resident permit, or for that matter, even a resident hunting license to out-of-state land owners. It's a real sore issue with me. I have a very large parcel of land up there, and cannot hunt on openning day of deer season because it is reserved for Maine residents only. So I have to sit around and watch the locals hunt on my land before I can. I don't want to post it, but it is by permission only that I allow folks on it.

Opening day in Maine is on a Saturday, so I was thinking of posting it with the following.

"No Hunting On Saturdays..Reserved for the LandOwner"

When I forwarded the e-mail letter I got to my Rep's office, I also asked them to check with the DOS about the status of Maine and if they have received the notice from Washington yet. The reply they got said they sent letters to both states on July 29 and have not heard back yet. They did acknowledge the e-mail I got...and granted it was dated last Friday so the USPS may not have got a mailed copy to Nashville yet. They are supposed to notify my Rep's office of any updates and them me.

What I am thinking now is I may wait till the end of Aug then write to Maine myself and she what shakes loose...

Thanks for the update Fallguy. I'll be heading up to Maine in November. Maybe there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I got a response from Washington today.

THEY WILL HONOR TN PERMITS!!!!

I missed this initially and actually read about it on another forum - that's awesome, Fallguy! While I doubt I'll be in Washington anytime soon, I'm really impressed by your efforts - thank you!

Still no word on Maine. But the DOS has acknowledged they got the notification from Washington.

Below is the e-mail my Rep's office got from the DOS and the attached PDF is what was sent to them from Washington.

Rep. McDaniel and Sharon,

We received confirmation from Washington State that they will acknowledge Tennessee's Handgun Carry Permit. Please see attached letter. We will be working to update our files and website but I wanted

to let you both know because I knew that your constituent was

interested in this case.

Thanks,

Jonathan
