G19 would be my choice out of the choices listed.

hard to say we are kind of comparing apples to oranges. I would suggest that you get all three.

The colt is the best of the 3 IMHO. I have a colt and a para and had a g19 as well, the glock is a glock, love em or hate them they are all the same. The para has had a few issues, the colt flawless, both bought new at the same time. Para broke its unbreakable extractor pretty early in life, the service was excellent (sent me the part and helped me get it swapped), and has had a number of fail to feeds which at this point I blame on the mags that came with it (research in progress). It was unfinished inside and very rough spots on the slide were cutting up my barrel until I found those, still some deep scratches from that.

I'd pass on the Para, get the G-19 later and go with the Colt, find a good 'smith and have some light work done and shoot it all the time.

The Glock is a great gun that you will never have any trouble with, unfortunately it is not very visually pleasing. The Colt is also a great gun and is also nice to look at ;)

Well, sorry to be a bearer of bad news but I decided on a cheaper 1911. Ended up buying a used Charles Daly 1911 with hogue grips(2 sets) a new torch, and another holster. As well as 150 rounds of FMJ and 1 box of personal defense instead of the above mentioned choices. And STILL walkedd away with an extra $200!

I'll give you 100 bucks for the 1911, 100 for the extra grips, and 100 for the holster and you just throw the rest in for free!

Looks like a nice purchase, I'm not going to research this 1911.

I would have gone for the Glock 19... but then, I DID get the Glock 19

:)

The important thing is that you're happy with the gun you got, so congrats! Now go to the range and sling some lead through that puppy!!

IIRC the CD is made in the Philippians and is actually a pretty nice 1911 variant that judging from your pictures looks pretty nice. As DaddyO mentioned if the Series 80 Colt had been a Series 70 instead then I’d wonder why you were even considering anything else. Also, FWIW, you’ll end up with a G-19 sooner than you think; it’s the handiest of all the Glock’s.

I haven't shot a Charles Daly yet, let us know how it does at the range.

Already took it to the range and shot 300 rounds through.... Functions just as good, if not better than my old Springfield GI. No malfunctions whatsoever! Very accurate, low recoil... The only thing I may change is the Ambi safety..... The right side kind of pinches me a bit but other than that it's damn near perfect. I've done my research and have come to find out that an 18lb recoil spring and a wilson combat slide stop might be in order if I plan on shooting several thousand rounds through it...
