The Debt Ceiling

Thomas Sowell nails it–as he always does–regarding the debt ceiling:

Debt-Ceiling Chicken - Thomas Sowell - Townhall Conservative

Classic: "Many years ago, someone said, "If you didn't invite me to the big take-off, don't invite me to the crash landing." This was Obama's big spending spree, but "bipartisanship" requires Republicans to either split the bill or be blamed if the government shuts down or defaults."

Have you noticed how this is all you hear about, and the more you hear about it, the more people become polarized. But it's not a two sided set of opposites. You have the "for's" the "against" and then there's a third group to which I am becoming a part to. I'm so sick of no one actually DOING something I'm close to not caring at all. Not caring in the "let it burn" sense. This is getting old.

I watched a few seconds of O's speech when he was on last night. Just enough of it to motivate me to get up and put the next DVD of Supernatural season 5 in the player and push play. I'm to the point of "I'll believe it when I see it" because honestly, I don't think they'll do squat until it spills into the streets, and that's sad but so is life sometimes.

I think you are right. There is precedent for spilling into the streets, but I am not sure 21st century America has the stomach for it.

I know they don't. The best thing to do is what you and I have done. You've chose to teach your children what they need to know, not what THEY want them to know, and I've chose not have any at all.

I am not sure that 21st Century America is going to have a choice in whether it spills into the streets or not. I believe they have been running test via the "Flash-robs" across the country to see what the Americans will take, and so far there does not seem to be a general outcry. Let the grocery stores have empty shelves, and hitting Sears or Victoria's Secret will seem mild in comparison.

Scott DesJarlais the only Republican member of the Tennessee congressional delegation to vote against default bill. WATE.com

Also voted against the Reid Plan, as well as Cut, Cap, and Balance.

“We have an out of control deficit and it is going to take more than insignificant cuts and imaginary savings in order to put our nation back on the right fiscal track.”
(quote from press release, public domain)

Starting to really like Dr. Scott.

I emailed Marsha, Bob and Lamar this morning voicing my displeasure at the latest "compromise." I vow to support Primary candidates that will really be conservative and tries to unseat any incumbent that votes for this boondoggle.

A normal person would tighten their belt, and pay down their debt, NOT default on current debts. Defaulting a good way to wind up homeless, and is viewed by some as plain stoopid.
