So I went to Home Depot, just nosing around. Found a rototiller in the clearance section for $300. Ariens 17" rear tine looks unused. "Whats the deal?", I ask. sales guy said customer purchased it, took it home and returned it within about about an hour. Sounded good, took it home, pulled starter rope about eleventy seventeen times. It never even coughed. Shot it with starter fluid, choke,no choke etc! It was dead in the water! Smart ass 13 year old asks, "should I turn this switch to start?". "Yes" I replied, "It should be primed now". One pull later and it just about went through the carport! :)

Mine usually goes something like this. Something with some complexity to it breaks down. I disassemble to fix, replace defective part, re-assemble, feel good about it, look over to edge of workbench, find part I forgot to put back in, have to totally disassemble to re-install said forgotten part. Usually involves having to break apart at least two seals that I don't have another of to get back into it.

We still do not let Dad live down a screw up he had back in the late 80's. He could not get his Craftsman lawn tractor to start. He placed a service call and had a Sears tech come out to work on it. A few minutes after the tech got there he had it running. Dad asked what the problem was and the service guy said it was out of gas. :)
