Hmm, I agree and disagree. In a video, you should do what you do in real life. In other words, you should check every firearm you pick up. But you do not have to make a big deal out of it.

Remember, most of the folks who watch these videos are NOT people who actually shoot firearms. Many of them live in places where this is as close as they ever get to actually being able to shoot. Many more are kids who live in 'gun-free' homes. You should try to set a good example when making a video. And that means displaying proper safe habits.

After all, "I am the only one in this room professional enough to handle a Glock Forty"!

Sometimes they will mention all the mail they get if they don't check it.

The cop in the Ohio video says "Glock Forty". Who says "Glock Forty" anyway?

Evidently 50 Cent and some former Florida ATF agent :)

Yes it may be an educational service to demonstrate clearing the weapon. Many people will buy a gun without knowing anything about safety. It is a good idea to disseminate gun safety tips any way possible.

There may be a lot of power tool how-to videos that remind viewers, "Don't cut your fingers off with the table saw." Which is really good advice as well.

Maybe the youtube gun reviews could more frequently mention, "Never point a pistol at your head and pull the trigger, even if the safety is on." That might cheat Darwin of an occasional thrill. :)
