Basic Maintenance Question

Recommended Posts

Posted

I recently replaced a worn out old pocketknife with a Kershaw Leek. While it's the sharpest "out of the box" knife I've ever owned, it's made of fairly soft carbon steel, so rust spots show up. I've been lightly buffing them away, and keeping the metal oiled with plain old Hoppe's.

Q: Is there something that will provide more lasting surface protection? The oil lasts only so long, and I tend to forgetfulness.

That's interesting. I got my Leek a couple of years ago as my everyday blade and have never noticed any rust spots.

The only thing I've done to it is give it some swipes on a sharpening steel every now and then.

I use Tuf Glide on all of my knives. It's a dry film lubricant that works really well.

Yes indeed good stuff the same as what I use
