Just a heads up for everyone to let em' know that on Wednesday nights ch.606 the Outdoor channel has all their shooting shows on. Give em' a watch and you just might learn something or at the very least fine a new "toy" that you can't live without. :D

I TIVO the bunch and watch at my leisure. I usually pick up a tidbit or two each week, and generally come away from each show wanting to buy more guns. (I'm sure the shows and their advertisers would not mind that at all...)

I offer the following unsolicited opinions on each:

1) American Rifleman -Most weeks this is the best of the bunch. I really like the "I have this old gun" segment -great historical perspective on some interesting firearms.

2) Shooting USA/Sighting In With Shooting USA. Jim Scouten and family usually do a decent job. I like the show's emphasis on growing the shooting sports via bringing in members from under-represented groups (young people, women, etc). I also wish I had a gun room that looked like their main set. "Pro Tips" is a good segment. I can do without the archery guy, although he does some amazing things with a bow!

3) Personal Defense TV. I like the lack discussions about hunting and lack of pictures of dead animals. Also, usually learn something from Clint Smith and Mas Ayoob.

5) Shooting Gallery. My least favorite of the bunch. Seems less professionally done than the others. Not a big Michael Bane fan.

6) Guns & Ammo TV. Either my TIVO is missing it sometimes, or it is sporadic lately. Could be better, could be worse.

With all of these shows, its hard to tell where the show ends and the commercials begin. That being said, I sometimes learn more by watching Larry Potterfield's gun smithing infomercials for Midway USA than by watching the shows. "And that's the way it is."

YOMM.

You missed #4, could it be "Cowboys", I get all six of em' on my DVR too.

I can't believe that Jim messed up by saying that the .327 Fed. Mag was the first handgun ctg. to have the Federal name attached to it. Guess he forgot about the 9mm Federal. Can't say as I blame him, it didn't go over very well. Sort of a 9x19mm with a rim chambered in a Charter Arms revolver. Oh well, guess they need to hire me to work for em' so they don't make mistakes like that again, LOL.

I think Michael Bane does a great job and his whole show is on one topic and not jumping from one thing to another. My directv offered Outdoor Channel as a separate for just $1.99 a month but I was just notified it may be going to $2.99 a month. All Directv prices going up. This is not good for us folks on fixed income.

LOL, I'm not all that crazy about Direct TV. We've had bad service out of em' more then a few times. If prices go up we may just end up having to cancel our service. Heck, most of the time what I watch is on regular TV anyway, it's just that reception is so bad up here on the Plateau that's all. Oh well, talk to ya'll later.

We get problems in storms, problems with the DVR box and the standard box, problems with the program cutting out. Believe it or not, I'd rather have cable but then I'd have to go to Jamestown to talk to em' since that's the place that'd supply it here.

I miss Wednesday night on the range, and Uncle Ted's show on Tuesdays.

Lost access to them when I made the switch to comcast, AKA rip your ass off and screw you over cable company.

But alas cable is my only option, no line of sight for the satellite dish anymore. The trees got too big.
