I am looking for a good gunsmith near cleveland or chattanooga to do some work on my Rock Island Arsenal / Springfield m1903.

I saw the thread about Gun Slingers gunsmithing. I will check them out, but just wanting to see if anyone was highly recommended for these old guns before I took it in. what about Volunteer Ordinance Works?

I have heard good stuff about VOW. I have not had any work done, but some friends have.

That's good to know about VOW.

I have done some transfers and purchase with them and have always been pleased.

I HAVE ALL OF MY WORK DONE AT GUNSLINGERS. THE GUNSMITH THERE TRIES TO GET THE GUN REPAIRED ASAP. AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS HE WILL TAKE THE TIME TO ANSWER THEM. JUST A HEADS UP FOR ANYONE INTRESTED THEY HAVE AN AFFORDABLE LAWAWAY PLAN VERY FRIENDLY PEOPLE THERE. THEY BUY, SELL, TRADE, SERVICE, CLEAN, REPAIR, LAYAWAY, DO CONSIGNMENTS, TRANSFERS, AND SHIPPING FOR FACTORY WARRANTY WORK. THEY TRY TO ACCOMIDATE EVERYONE AS BEST AS THEY CAN. GUNS, GUNPARTS, GUN ACCESSORIES, IF THEY DONT HAVE IT THEY WILL DO THERE BEST TO GET IT FOR YOU...

Shooter's Depot at Hwy 153 & Shallowford road advertises a gunsmith. I don't know who he is but I would expect him to be the same quality as the other people there. I have also heard Gunslingers & VOW have done good work. This would make a good sticky thread as others have looked before. I don't know how it's done. Post your results please. It seems I'm always breaking or losing something and have to send it off somewhere.

Added - Here is another thread here with good info -

I've heard a few things about Gunslingers.. But before I purchased my 300rum, I called them and asked them if they had anything in a 300WM and got the reply "uhhhh I don't know......?" After that I just said thank you for your time and went to Sportman and got my RUM.
