Katrina shooting victim hit by bullets from three guns: expert | Reuters

"James Brissette, 17, was shot seven times by guns including an AK-47 assault rifle, another rifle and a shotgun, forensic pathologist Vincent Di Maio told jurors in a New Orleans courtroom. Two shotgun pellet wounds at the base of his skull caused his death, Di Maio said."

I've not followed this but I've never heard of a police officer using an AK-47. Am I missing something?

The hurricane had already hit. The city was in turmoil. Cops that didn’t have semi-auto rifles assigned to them were probably carrying whatever they had at home or could seize. I know I would have been.

I’m not making any judgments; I just think in that situation everyone, Cops and Citizens alike, were arming themselves with whatever they could get their hands on.

You're not making any judgments on them arming themselves or them shooting unarmed civilians, and covering up their act of murdering those civilians?

I don’t know enough about the incident to have an opinion. I was simply offering a possible explanation of why cops would be using AK's. Okay?

From that story it sounds as if they are being tried now.
