I took it to mean a boundary, or line of sorts, that allows carry where it isn't otherwise allowed.

Well of course I do, as should everyone. Our pastor was kidding with me once and asked if I felt naked without my gun. I just smiled at him. He said well I don't mind and I'm pretty sure god won't mind either.

This is a prayer that allows you to do things that normally you couldn't right?

Wow, I wish!

No, it is a physical structure that surrounds an area, making it "enclosed" so it becomes sort of like the inside of your house.

Sometimes in the pulpit too

Yes, because it is irresponsible to leave a firearm unattended in my car.

I've never heard that was the law. I could be wrong, but I believe it's not illegal unless the church is posted.

ya you guys mite be right im looking it up now

There is no law prohibiting the carrying of a weapon in a church in TN. If they are posted, you can't carry, and if they are also a school, you can't carry, but that is about it.

I guess I thought that "is a symbolic boundary that allows" meant that it wasn't a physical structure.

That's the way I understood it as well. Symbolic could be anything you want to invision. So one could just invision a wall! :D

Here's an interesting read for anyone....well....interested in this eiruv

Rabbi, could your community not establish an eiruv? And this isn't just about firearms, is it?

My pastor once said (in the pulpit) that he felt it was a duty as a christian to own a firearm for self defense. He never elaborated as to what type of self defense, home or personal. I couldn't help from giving him an "AMEN"! :D

There actually is one at the other synagogue in town.

They tend to be expensive and difficult to put up and honestly around our place there aren't enough folks who care about it to warrant the effort and expense. We're still trying to get people not to drive.

I carry my gun, period. The "place" is absolutely irrelevant to me, and is not even a consideration. Many people tend to think of self defense as "is it ok for me to carry here?" I think of self defense as "I'm going to have my gun in case I need it."
