Might try Fox and Co. He carries a lot of ammo most others dont. I buy my 9x18 at the gun shows or order it online. Can usually get Brown or Silver Bear for $10-13 a box.
Who is Fox and Co?

They are an old gun and boating shop located off Old Broadway on Dutch Valley in Fountain City, visible off of 640. They dont sell guns anymore but they still sell ammo, reloading supplies and have one of the better gunsmiths in the area. Like I said they are an old store and therefore have lots of neat and hard to find items that have probably been in the store for the last 50 years. I dont think owner even knows everything he has squirreled away.

about $10.00 a box plus shipping from Cheaper Than Dirt
Like I said, I know I can get it pretty cheap online. I'm just looking for local sources first since its an uncommon caliber. I might just make a road trip to Academy.

Have you tried Austin's? They always seem to have a box or two--not sure the price, though.

Forgot about them. Last time I was in there (a couple years ago) they didn't have much of an ammo selection.

He doesn't, really--that's why I said "box or two." But he started selling Maks and CZ82s awhile back, so he always keeps some ammo for them in stock. I've been looking for a reason to buy one from him.

If you need a reason, the true maks are amazing, accurate, reliable, rugged, low recoil. About the worst thing you can say about them is they arent the best carry gun (IMHO), low capacity & weakish caliber -- you can get the same in a much smaller gun (pocket 380s, for example). But for the range, its inexpensive to shoot (no worse than 9mm), the gun itself is also cheap (under $300 for anything short of a collector piece) so its a great way to enjoy something bigger than a 22 in a great platform for not a lot of $$. I have many thousands of rounds thru mine and last time I shot it (less than a month back) I made a 1.5 inch hole @ 15 yards or so, and I have kept it in the black of a 25 yard NRA target(at 25 yards, roughly a 3 inch diameter circle?), for a short/small gun with fixed sights thats hard to beat. On the range, this one is probably my favorite gun, and that is saying a lot as I really like my other stuff too.

Made a road trip to Academy this morning. Picked up a few boxes of 9mm Mak for $9.99 a piece. Can't beat that price. Finally got to see what all the hoopla over Academy was about. They do have a nice firearm and ammo selection at some good prices. I didn't much care for the rest of the store. Aside from that section, if you aren't into sports the store really doesn't have much to offer. So in that respect I actually like Gander/Bass Pro better. They're geared more toward the outdoorsmen and not the sport players, though their ammo prices suck.

I think it varies some by location. Ours has hunting, fishing, guns, camping, and outdoor stuff in almost equal amounts to the sports gear.

Which one? I went to the one in the eastern part of Chatt. Off I75 exit 5. They did have all that, I just like Gander's/Bass Pro's selection of outdoor gear better.

Same one, didnt know you came down here. I also like the nearby sportsman's warehouse, which has reloading supplies and all kinds of good stuff. If you come down again, check them out as well... just not for mak ammo, its there sometimes but academy is more likely to have that. No mak slugs either, if you reload it. Its not russian friendly!
