So, apparently Google has launched their own social networking site called Google+. Being the social networking nerd that I am, I have joined it. If anyone out there wants an invite, I have a few spares and would be happy to share.

A co-worker invited me yesterday. I have to admit that I was only vaguely aware of Google+ existence when he mentioned it. It'll be interesting to see how it fares against Facebook.

already have it. i like it quite a bit. being able to more easily specify who sees every post is very nice.

I also like the lack of games and extra crap on it.

... then again, facebook started off that way too.

I can't stand Facebook, however I do have one but you can only see a few pictures. I have my wall deactivated which is so much nicer. Then my friends convinced me to get a twitter about a month ago. I barely use it IDK I used to like all of this stuff in high school and I can see it's purpose later in life but for now it's a waste of my time.

That ought to go a long way in filling the few remaining gaps in Google's previous surveillance network consisting of Google Search, Maps, StreetView and Chrome.

But it is difficult to imagine the CIA being happy about the competition unless Google friends them--

Eh, that has been the general notion for several years now and it really shows no sign of hurting special interest forums. General, off-topic communities? Perhaps.
