Offensive Bumper Sticker Law

Recommended Posts

What is worse is who now gets to decide what is Obscene.

For the record, in 87 small plastic crucifix submerged in a glass of the artist's urine was ruled art which upset and outraged and offended probably millions of people.

I’m going to take the other side. :D:drama:

Who puts bumper stickers on their car?

Children (or people in general) shouldn’t have to read profanity because some moron is confused about the Constitution.

If you stood on a street corner yelling profanity you would be arrested; why would you think its okay for a sticker on your car?

;)

Profanity would be one issue, but "patently offensive bumper stickers, window signs or other markings on their vehicle visible to other drivers" is a completely different thing.

Depending on the political view of the officer involved, what is offensive to one may be perfectly alright with someone else. Just like the mantra that the anti-gunners use on any suggestion regarding return to Constitutionality with respect to firearms issues, the legislature was charged with dealing with "Jobs, jobs and jobs" I did not see any discussion of "patently offensive" bumper stickers in the run up to the last election.

Your sig line contains a word that would get you fined if you had it posted on your vehicle, depending on who sees it.

It just was not on the radar screen before, changing it up brought scrutiny to it. I believe folks are starting to pay more attention, plus, the media loves to make Republicans look bad.

Agree...

Would be a bit funny if someone's trying to toughen the law is what got it repealed....

What will probably get it repealed is the first person that gets a ticket for the Bad Cop, no Donut bumper sticker.

It will probably start up something like this

Here is your 90 dollar speeding ticket and by the way, here is another 50 dollar ticket for that bumper sticker.

(Note, I don't have single bumper sticker on car or truck).

I hate bumper stickers. I only put them on my safe. I am forced to do the window stickers for my kids schools. As soon as I get them their own transportation I will be sicker/decal free.

I have never had bumper stickers on any of my vehicles but I don't think it is right for anyone to push their beliefs on others by telling them their bumper sticker is offensive to them so they should be fined. Sounds like a Police State to me IMO that is.

But while we are at it I find any sticker with Obama on it to be offensive because.................

It's not like they need any help in that area.

Why can't we make it mandatory for all Federal, State, and Local Officials to take and pass a civics course explaining the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights?

They'd just get pushed through under the "No politician left behind" clause.

The truck/bull nuts just don't make sense to me. I don't understand the mentality behind wanting to hang nuts on your vehicle. :screwy:

What about hanging a dildo off your trailer hitch, is that next? Is one more "offensive" than the other?

Yea, maybe the dildo is. :screwy:

Not that I think you are really asking...but I'll play...

I figure you've heard the phrase, "....have balls" Like, "You really have some balls!" or "That dude sure has some balls!" talking about them doing something dificult, impressive etc... so I have always took them hanging from a truck to mean in the owner's opinon their "Truck has balls" meaing it's tough etc..... But what do I know?!

I think 2" ball bearings on a chain would be more fitting.

Ok, the legislature tighten up a law like this - making it a $50 fine, instead of a $2-50 fine.

Really. How nice not to have any other, MORE IMPORTANT, thing to do while writing laws... No sir, no other topic to worry about while creating laws, like say Job Creation, or Constitutional Rights...

From what I can tell, the only JOBS this legislature created was for the Late Night "Comedy" Hosts...
