I think it is a good idea to have class&range time for a permit,But Iowa has had online class now for seven months now with

no problems and they have few restrictions and are allowed to drink in bar with gun and carry handgun, rifle&shotgun.

Well, that's cause there's like 9 people living in Iowa, and they all grow corn.

Honestly, I don't think the class or range time serve any benefit what so ever in TN... Much less than 1% of people who attend a HCP class/range don't pass... It's corporate welfare for gun ranges and instructors and nothing more... It's a needless expense required by the state to get a permit to carry a firearm.

An online class and test or just an online application would serve about the same purpose, and wouldn't result in a significant increase in risk to the public.

You can kiss reciprocity goodbye with a lot of states. The good state of Tennessee recognizes all permits, but most states look for requirements similar to their own.

That is why I somewhat prefer states like AZ and AK that don't require permits to carry but still issues permits with certain requriements etc.. that are honored in many states for those residents that may want them to travel. Of course if all states where just like VT that would take care of alot...lol
