Need to install gutters. Any suggestions?

I just bought a house. I need to repair the roof and install new gutters. I'm looking for a professional who can do the job right and do not rub me at the same time. I do not mind to rent equipment and do the job myself.

I would appreciate any suggestions

I don't know if they are still in Business but I needed gutters on a house I use to have and Goddard Guttering came out and did it for about half what I could have gotten just the materials from home depot for.

I can't recommend dealers in Knoxville (dunno much about it), but we had LeafGuard gutters installed a few years ago and have been pretty happy with them.

The installers of this brand and several other styles use a medal-folding machine (fed from a big roll of sheet metal) to make the gutters to-length on the spot at your house, so often there will be one piece extending the entire length of a house-side, which looks better and is probably more durable than 10 foot sections screwed together.

That leaf guard design avoids the chore of cleaning the gutters. They catch the rain great.

On one inside angle of our roof, the water has too big a velocity to always "follow the curve" and enter the gutter, if it is raining hard.

On brief toad stranglers, the water can move too fast and some of it will shoot off the gutter rather than all of it entering the gutter.

But overall it beats heck out of cleaning leaves out of gutters.

i reccommend using screw not nails to hold them up. nails always work there way out, now that could be because people often don't get the nails into the trusses though

Make sure you get a local company! There are tons of out of state "storm chaser" companies in town now, due to the hail damage. Most of them come in, rent a vacant office, or get a mail box at the Pack and Ship store for a month or so, and then beat feet.

I went with 6" last time I did my house. Even May 1, 2010 when I had 14" of rain in one day, they kept the roof drained well. I shopped around and found prices varied wildly. I mean double and triple and quadruple!

Shop around until a price seems reasonable. I got an excellent job done with 6" seamless gutters for not a lot more than I could have done it myself with 10' vinyl sections at Lowes. I have had vinyl gutters and aluminum. No comparison-aluminum will last much longer.

I can not believe nobody can install the gutters nowadays. People come, quote, promise ... and never show up for the real work

I'm ready to pay $800 for 180 feet of seamless gutters installed on my house

Anybody know reliable professional who is not overbooked with other orders?

Keep in mind most roofers/guttering people/siding people are slammed due to the storm damage couple months ago. Most "Good" company's will be backed up. I would recommend either of the above listed company's. I've been doing home repairs/renovations a long time and these are two good company's. Check with Suntzu, he's a supt. with a construction company and might be able to offer up a few more suggestions.

You and a friend could probably do it yourselves. Vinyl gutters are pretty cheap at the big box stores, and they are pretty easy to install. Just need a cordless screwgun, a mitersaw (or hacksaw even) and two ladders. All the parts just snap together. I've put them up on my rentals. The vinyl is very forgiving, unlike the aluminum that creases if bent a little.
