300 was pretty great. Most of the best lines/scenes are historical (pushing the persian in the well/tonight we dine in hell/come back with your shield or on it/molon labe)

shooter was a great movie also i thought even though it isnt new.

I liked Shooter, but the book it was based on, Point of Impact, was top-notch.

Also, I agree that Blazing Saddles was one of the greatest comedies ever.

"Candy gram for Mongo, Candy gram for Mongo."

"Mongo like candy..."

BOOM

Saw "Vantage Point" with my brother last night, finally got the girlfriend to sit through "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" and "The Way of the Gun" a few nights ago. She liked them both, thank God--now I know I can keep her!

. . . she says I'm "twisted" for siding with Parker and Longbaugh in WoG, and I have a "very messed-up conscience and sense of humor" . . . I can live with that. :koolaid:

That's OK.

My brother and I fantasized about going to see The Passion of Christ when it was in the theatres and cheering at all the inappropriate parts.

You crack me up, Rabbi.

Way of the Gun Is the most accurate gun movie that I've ever seen.

I watched Michael Clayton the other day it was pretty good. Saw Jumper too, nothing to write home about.

Re-watched the Blues Brothers the other night. Hilarious, but even more so to see that many guns and inept cops in Chicago. They didn't know they were predicting the future when they made that film, I'm sure... :P

A couple of the recent movies I've watched from NetFlix were:

Last Man Standing (long time favorite)

Kingdom of Heaven (in my top ten, despite Orlando Bloom)

Transformers (of course... I grew up to the cartoon)

The Great Raid (powerful and well written/acted)

Aliens Quadrilogy (#2 is the only good one)

Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man (one of my favorite Micky Rourke movies next to Sin City)

The Jackal (long time favorite)

Heat (very entertaining, great cast and action scenes)

Ronin (long time favorite, great chase scene)

Army of Darkness (gotta love a good Bruce Campbell b-movie every so often)

Cold Mountain (surprisingly good...)

Heartbreak Ridge (Clint plays another conflicted badass... good though)

Death Wish (warm up for watching The Brave One)

I was kinda being serious while poking fun at Molon, but after I did a IMBD search I discovered that I was thinking of Body Heat :P

I loved this movie, absolutely hated the ending. I remember reading the book and then the ending came, aak!! What a let down, the movie stayed right on track.

:squint: I have all 4 of those as well. While #2 was awesome, I have to say the original movie is a scifi classic. Gotta show it some love.

Army of Darkness (gotta love a good Bruce Campbell b-movie every so often)

:D My all time favorite check your brain at the door movie. "Good. Bad. I'm the guy with the gun."

Another personal favorite is "Big Trouble in Little China".

I rewatched Grosse Pointe Blank a few nights ago. Hilarious. Good movie, great soundtrack. When it was in theatres I saw Shoot 'Em Up. In a word, this movie is awful. The shootouts are totally unrealistic, but when aren't they in movies? It does, however, have Clive Owen who's always a cool MFer, and one absolutely classic line from Paul Giamatti: "Guns don't kill people, but they sure help." Another Clive Owen movie that comes to mind is Inside Man. This is a must-see. One of the best films I've seen the last few years.

Shoot em Up is great as long as your not looking for realism or seriousness. Great Paul line is "Are we really just this bad, or is he just that good" this after he dodges another 1,000 bullets. I actually bought the movie because its just entertaining and it does NOT take itself seriously. It is unrealistic on purpose. I mean he pays for ammo with food stamps lol. Grosse Point Blank is a classic...as is HEAT...afterall its main shoot-out was the inspiration for the North Hollywood Bank Robbery. Found a great Zombie movie the other day. Its very hard to find but Blockbuster has it: FIDO....absolutely helarious and just a great all around Zombie flick with a 50's setting. Definitely a hidden gem for my fellow Zombie buffs.

I loved Heat. Saw it three times in the theatre. I am a huge fan of the director, Michael Mann. Last of the Mohicans, The Insider, Collateral, Miami Vice (tv show and movie), among others.

I use Netflix-

I've been watching the HBO series "Rome" and the show "Over There". I like those for entertainment. I watched The Brave One and liked it.

An old war movie that I liked was "Paths of Glory" (1957) where a commander decides to execute 3 troops for cowardice to cover up his bull-headed tactical error. Being former enlisted (7 years active) I relate to those "officers bad, enlisted good" movies!!

"Rome" is like Gladiator, soft porn, Dallas, and 48 Hours rolled into one. Not for children or prudish adults.

I saw it the other night, definitely a good movie. An original plot.. it was a little predictable but it kept my interest.
