Why would anybody drench a guitar in that much solvent? One would be hard-pressed to find anything that wouldn't gum up the works if used like that and then let sit...

The mechanical nature of a pedal steel requires lubrication... some nuts go way overboard...

I always believed WD 40 was for water displacement. It works short term for lubricating but is not really a viable alternative to oil. The big downside is that it also repels oil. So if you use WD and it dries or evaporates then you oil the same piece the oil will not take to it. Or so I believe anyway.

Yep, WD-40 is definitely not CLP. As I've said before, I don't let closer than 20 feet from my firearms.

Its also super penetrating and will kill the gas seals on your scopes!

The only thing i ever use it on is after I blue a gun I will soak it in wd40 for about a month. It will really set the color in and give you a stronger finish.

WD-40 is good for squeaky door hinges and mediocre at loosening stuck fasteners.

For every other lubrication need there is a proper lube that works much better than WD-40. I don't know why anyone would use WD-40 on guns.

What about Mobil-1 synthetic no seriously...if its good enough for my Supras Turbo engine at rediculous temps how would it do on a firearm?

I have read post on the low road about people useing it on there guns.You can get some great info on that site

I have used wd 40 to clean my guns for over 20 years. Have not had a problem yet. Notice I said to clean, not as lube.

I use wd40 only on outside blued surfaces. Its good to take of hand prints.
