Trading post idea?

Recommended Posts

Probably been mentioned before, but is there a chance we might create some sub-forums in the firearms classifieds (like three: west, central and east) so those of us looking to buy can more easily differentiate where the seller is located? I see things all the time that I'd jump on if they weren't on the other side of the state, though I don't know where they are until I click on the link and read it - would be GREAT if one could just look at the items in their part of the state. Obviously, one could look at a couple or all three sub-forums if they are willing to hike, but I suspect the percentage of folks willing to drive from Knoxville to Memphis for a gun are pretty small...

Just a thought...

I wind up looking at all the ads anyway, even if I'm not in the market for anything. The real solution is to just move to Nashville. You can get to everything in the state, and you don't have to carry as many spare mags :-). Excuse the boring smiley.

I am open to this, however... there is a Classifieds script that can be added to the IPB forum software and I am leaning heavily toward implementing that once we convert. It totally changes the way that classifieds are posted on the forum and allows us to incorporate fields such as location.

I was just thinking when I read the first post how this should wait till you finish the "larger" project......but it is a good idea.

I like the idea of the drop menu idea. I would look at all of them anyway and it's easier to click on one link. I know on another forum they have you put city and state in the title if you are not willing to ship.

Procedural issues like that are hard to enforce, though. Before you know it, you've got a dozen moderators for classified ads and each of them has a dozen or more threads they're trying to edit the title of with little help from the people who started them.
