I have been going through the academy with a new department. Tonight was taser training. I can not describe just how much it sucked. The only good part was no lasting effects. I can say first hand that tasers are VERY effective!

I'll take the taser over pepper-spray any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I watched a program on a new type that was shot out of a shotgun. They had some big guys that they shot, and they curled up like a baby on the floor. I DO NOT want to br around one of those beasts.

My wife just got a new Taser C2 personal protector and she is just itching to try it out. I'm watching my back closely.

No Strickj, not yet. I am going to feel really bad if I have to. It hurts! Readyornot, they told us about those civilian tasers. They are made so you can shoot them with it and then throw it down. It keeps tasing for 30 seconds to give you time to get away, ours only tase for 5 seconds at a time. I can't imagine 30 seconds, that is long enough to think about the events in your life that brought you to that point:) The cool thing about the civilian models is that if you deploy it and a police report is made, taser will replace it for free.

I think I'll get one since crime is so high at UT and firearms are not allowed.

It's a nice piece of hardware. It comes with a light and laser sight built in. All for $349.00. It doesn't look anything like the LEO model, in fact it looks more like an electric razor. It comes with a training DVD and a target. We bought a couple of extra cartridges so we could practice with it and get comfortable handling it.
