Im at Dollywood, And I noticed a young man in his early 20's carrying OWB under his shirt. At first I noticed the bulge then when he bent over I noticed the bottom of his holster. My opinion there is places I feel there is no reason to carry. A kid friendly, family amusement park. Im sure (I hope) he is a responsible owner. But there is no reason to carry in Dollywood. Its his right, and mine also. But if something would break out in Dollywood bullets flying would cause too much damage to the innocent. Some of us need to learn to handle it with our fist. A old fashion ass woopin would be more appropriate.

WOW
In all honesty, I feel if a man, feels he need to be armed in Dollywood he must be a coward. And if he lives with that much fear. This man should not be allowed to carry. I pray he never come to a situation because his fear will cloud his judgement. And innocents may be injured.

I disagree with you there 808. Not an intelligent man myself, my hands are all I have to make a living with. No way am I going to mess up my hands [and face!!!] in a stupid fist fight that could have been averted by my SP101. Each to his own, but I refuse to fight unless I am out of ammo. Even then, I'm fighting just to flee. Fisticuffs is against my religion. I'm more than comfortable being called a coward for this view. I could care less.

I can think of NO place that would be inappropriate for me to carry. If I still went to church, I'd carry there too. If there WAS a place inappropriate to carry a weapon, I would consider it personally inappropriate for me to be there and as such you'd never find me there.

BTW 808, you are "Calling Out" a LOT of people with your statements here. Just so you know should someone wish to vehemently argue their point of view.

It is sad that now days no one knows how to throw a punch, take or give a beating then help or get helped up back to your feet and live to fight another day. Now days this world is all about these punks pulling guns or mob beatings! I do not care who you are and how much training you have had. If you get caught off guard by a few thugs your side arm may be your only way out.

On a side note, not ever being there. Is Dollywood not posted? Maybe he was a LEO? OR maybe hes just a punk thug or a wanna be that makes me glad I have the right to carry and protect my family!

The cardinal rule to gun fighting, have a gun!

Last time I checked you can't stop bullets or knives with your fists. And if you can solve the situation by fighting you probably could have just walked away

Um... yeah... I'm going to go ahead and agree with you here, 808.

No terrorist would ever choose such a populated venue to carry out murderous fantasies.

You know, because it's a family place.

I mean no disrespect to anyone. But at a amusement park...really????. My firearm is my last resort. I guess I was raised different. But Im not afraid to take a ass beating. Many people now rather draw first.

How do you know he wasn't trying to protect his family from unforeseen danger the same as going to walmart. I see absolutely no difference. Threats are everywhere even Dollywood and Disney World. These are not fairly lands were dangerous people are held out by an imaginary force field.

Oh and I'm perfectly capable of fighting with my hands and knife, but my gun is FAR more efficient

I respect all of your opinions.I think he should of concealed it better.

So, you're trying to make the claim that no one would ever think about going into Dollywood and start killing innocent people? Really? What makes Dollywood different than, say, the mall, or McDonald's, or the park?

Put yourself in the shoes of an insane person looking to do the most damage along with SHOCK value. Dollywood ain't too far out of the question now is it? I personally would want as many people carrying around me as possible.

On a side note. I think 808 is just trying to stir the pot.

A lot of people would have probably said the same thing about the 96 olympic games in Atlanta. Granted a gun wouldn't have stopped a bomb from going off, but just keep it in mind that the really REALLY bad people that want to do harm go for shock factor.

On a different note, I have read some of your other posts and you are entitled to your opinion - I am not trying to start a **** storm, but just give some food for thought. Since you are new to carrying, you should probably drop the idea of "fair fights" and "should just be solved with fists". When you are carrying, you should not get involved in ANY confrontation. Smile, walk away, turn the other cheek. This isn't hawaii where people might have a respectable brawl, pat each other on the back and walk away. You have a conceal carry permit, and get into a brawl - you are probably going to lose that permit, or the other guy if he is losing might decide to even the odds with your own weapon.

Walk softly and carry a big stick.....

Well if Dollywood is posted, then one wouldn't NEED a gun there, since we all know that a criminal would certainly follow the law, right?

I have to agree with Caster. Any place that is inappropriate for me to carry is inappropriate for me to be in. Though I must disagree with you on fist fighting. Bringing a gun to a fist fight is escalation of aggression.

Im not trying to insult. I apolagize if some is offended. I truely believe "wishful thinking wont keep you safe"but also a life full of fear the terrorist wins.

I here ya 808 SOUTH! At least the guy could have the courtesy to conceal his weapon. I am very careful in places like that to make sure no one can tell if I am carrying or not. In North Carolina you cannot carry anywhere that you have to pay to get in. That includes movie theaters, ball games, ect. We just got a law passed that lets us carry in state parks and on game lands.

I respect that. My weapon is my last resort. If you check my profile I chose to put down as my weapon that I carry is my mind & my heart.I guess I got alot of learning to do. I am humbled.

I am a newbie too to carrying, and my permit should be here any time. I feel though, as others, that Dollywood would be no different than any other place for someone to start trouble. The way I see it, is trouble doesnt just happen in the zones that arent geared towards families. Trouble lurks EVERYWHERE. Heck, theres probably some lurking on this site, that we dont even know about.

The fact of the matter is he doesn't have to conceal his weapon if he choses not too. And if I recall he said that it was under his shirt. Often times thats all that conceals my 4" 1911. if I bend down you will see the whole holster, maybe even the gun itself. but again thats my choice. You, as a gun owner, are more aware of others around you carrying. Id bet a dime to a doughnut 90% of the people he encountered that day, had no idea he was carrying
