SKS without bayonet?

Recommended Posts

I bought a Norinco SKS and the lug on the barrel does not appear to be one that will mount a bayonet. Does anyone know if I can do anything about this? :screwy: It appears the ends can be changed if you take out a pin, but I need an "expert" to advise me. :)

I'm just guessing but I bet your lug is earless ? Meaning someone neutered it along the way and all you have is an odd shaped block there.

pin punches and new parts,..

I find my SKS actually shot straighter and grouped better with the bayo on and locked back ( not deployed) I can only guess it has some moderating effect on barrel harmonics or something to that effect.

Good Luck on your restoration

That is the way it was imported and was one of several things that they had to do to make it legal for shipment.

No grenade launcher and cut the bayonet lug off.

In short...it will be more trouble than it is worth to fit one up really. Those pins are really in there good.

So any idea where I might find a new one at a decent price?

Any SKS's brought in after 1989 that are not C&R eligible cannot have a bayonet unless somehow you make it 922R compliant. This mainly just applies to the Norincos.

I don't like that idea. I've never heard of of anybody assaulting someone with a bayonet on a rifle. I just want to have a complete firearm.

I got one off Ebay last year. The guy hacked the end of the barrel off and sent it to me. Good luck

I have a Norinco SKS that I took the Bayonet off. Mine shoot better without it IMO. My little girl used to run around the yard sticking holes in her garden with it. I finally gave it to Magiccarpetrides to complete his build that was missing the bayonet. I looked at mine to see if the block would come off easy and it looks more trouble than its worth. It is slightly recessed and the front sight has to come off.

BTW Magic, My baby girl said she wants her pig sticker back or you owe her some gum.
