95 year old woman ordered to remove adult diaper during TSA search

The victim of this disgusting abuse of government power is a 95 year old woman who is dying of cancer and must use a wheelchair. How much longer are Americans going to let this kind of tyrannical behavior continue?!?

And what really peeves me is that once you get to that point in the process, you are not allowed to stop the search and leave. Doing so is a crime. I refuse to fly at this point and if I, or anyone in my family, were ever subjected to such treatment, I would likely end up in jail due to a little non-violent civil disobedience and vocal protesting. The TSA's policies are infuriating!

As long as we keep putting people in power who believe that this type of indignity is necessary to our national security, the abuse will continue.

I wish that was all of it. Your basic sheeple accept it, some even demand it.

I have been waiting for this one to get posted. My wife was upset about it last night. I asked her if it had been a 95 year old hadji would she have expected them to do it. She said yes.

I agree. I even have some within my own family who believe that it's "necessary". When I voiced my protest one day at a family gathering, I was asked "What do you have to hide?". I thought my head was going to explode.

Would you point your M4 at a 95 year old hadji? I know... profiling is bad. But, totally ineffective security will get folks killed. We ALL know granny wasn't gonna blow up the plane. It's just an exercise in political correctness. If our enemies practiced that too, we wouldn't be fondling anybody's junk.

Maybe your response should have been, "this", and just whip that sucker out :)

i really dont understand why profiling is viewed as a bad thing.

profiling is absolutely essiential when trying to figure out who is a bad guy and who is a good guy.

What I'm thinkin'. Of course, our government is less concerned with effectiveness than most folks.

Nor do I. It's only because of political correctness.

Police profile every day. It's their job.

Probably shouldn't compare the TSA with police. Their investigative skills are limited, like determing if it has cheese (yellow wrapper), or it doesn't (white wrapper).

There's no comparison, anyway. The TSA is a joke and an embarrassment,

along with too many other federal agencies. The police actually have a job

to do, and, usually do it well.

Their investigative skills are collecting pseudo-porn from the scanners.

I don't know what y'all are complaining about. Those 95 year olds are incredibly dangerous. Hell... they could bring down a plane with a set of dentures.

TSA is very much like our president in that they both have to go in 2012.

First of all who would want to look in a 95 year old woman's diaper? Some sick perverted...AGGGGGGH that just ain't right! The TSA is NOT making this country safe. The men and women in our military who are killing those sons of beaches are making us safer and paying for it with their sweat and blood. That really makes me mad....

Wow. That's just sad. What's next, pat downs of screaming 3 yr old girls? Oh, um...

This is not America or the American way. We do not treat our grandparents and children like prison inmates. Heck repeat offenders sitting in court get treated better than the trash going on in our airports. What next do people start getting handcuffed at the airports for their safety? This sick disgraceful crap must be stopped against our people. First it was old people in wheelchairs, then kids screaming, then people not wanting to go through the body scanners who get the 'extra patdown', what next? Do people need to get fully examined in hospital gowns before flying? Honestly that is what happened to this women and was disgraceful and sick and what you would think would happen in another country not to an American not charged with any sort of crime. This woman was traveling WITHIN our country!!!! SICK SICK SICK! I have gone through less crap as a kid through US Customs and also Mexican Policia Customs than this trash.

This article is missing the part I read in other articles about what activated the more intensive search. Apparently, the screener felt something suspicious in the first patdown. They have no choice but to do a more thorough screening at that point. I doubt the screener really wanted to dig through a soiled diaper at that point, but if it revealed a bomb, we would be hailing the poor schmuck as a hero right now.

I believe it's simply because she was in a wheelchair and unable to pass through the metal detector without it.

Negative. She set off the metal detectors repeatedly.

True and that's about the only reason I can see this as being even REMOTELY acceptable, even though as a whole it is not. Those who sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither.

Well, that is it. We now live in fear of 95 year old women in wheelchairs and three year old girls. Those that are supposed to protect us have become ouir tormentors. The terrorists have won.
