Here’s a news flash for you Chief…..

Gun laws and carry laws outside the home are controlled by the state. Do they not brief you on SCOTUS decisions that directly impact your city? It’s already illegal to carry a loaded gun in your state and requires registration in your city to even own one.

You already have the laws you want. If things are not going your way, get off your lazy freakin azz, do your job, and quit looking for someone else to blame.

He’s making noise about this right now because the Illinois legislature is considering allowing carry by permit.

Gun Control IS racist. He just got it backwards. Gun control is why poor blacks can't defend themselves. Gun control demands that people give up their right to self-defense and become dependent on the government for protection. Gun Control has yet to stop a single criminal or terrorist from acquiring whatever firearm they want. That's just an untrue myth. Gun and weapon control was around long before slaves were used in this country.

Yes, there were some laws enacted because of race but the key word is"some".

Open carry was legal in CA before Black Panthers. Then open carry became illegal in CA after Black Panthers. Cause and effect, possibly. Dunno.

Edit: I have read it alleged that some ante-bellum southern gun control law and felon disarmament and felon disenfranchisement was intended to keep blacks from being armed or voting. There were some quotes of old historical southern politicians plainly stating that was the purpose of the laws. It would require research to validate.

The NFA of 1934 predates that by a few years, no? And that was not about race.

Again, weapon control has been around since the invention of weapons. Hell, gun control was one of the reasons our ancestors founded this country.

The Mulford Act was a 1967 California bill prohibiting the public carrying of loaded firearms. Named after assemblyman Don Mulford, the bill garnered national attention after the Black Panthers marched on the California Capitol to protest the bill.

I don't know much history, but at the very beginning the black panther movement was not entirely wrong-headed, though of course any such movement is like playing with matches while standing in gasoline. SOME of it made sense early on. For instance, Malcolm X, you can find videos of most of his speeches on YouTube.

Malcolm and Spiro Agnew were two of the most talented speakers of that 1960's era. It is difficult to listen to a Malcolm X speech and not agree with at least a FEW things the man says, and he was just such a talented speaker.

Of course the movement got weird quick, and after some of the older leaders were arrested, some of the youngsters formed criminal gangs out of the remnants of the movement.

Anyway, when the black panthers began routine neighborhood patrols armed with ordinary hunting shotguns-- It was entirely legal at the time. It didn't go over well with the average citizen and seemed to lead to outlawing open carry. As long as white folks had wandered around rural areas open-carrying, it didn't seem to bother the average citizen quite so much.

Racism was one of the things mentioned in the Heller decision majority opinion penned by Justice Thomas, which is the point I believe being made. If one is poor they have less availability of being able to have a firearm to defend themselves with in areas that add financial burden upon a citizen in the form of additional fees.
