Just noticed they are posted last time I was there. I often enter or leave the bank with large amounts of cash, (It is a bank):death:. Anyone know if their signs meet the legal requirements?

Well, if the sign has a circle slash symbol and/or quotes the TCA, then yes, it meets the legal requirements. Just browsing the Carry Prohibited Locations forum, it appears most Regions bank locations are properly posted.

Fort Sill National Bank in Walmart is not posted.

I don't have an account there...yet, but my parents are very happy with them. No drive-thru though.

Make sure you let both the local branch manager and corporate know why you're leaving. Branch managers are judged on deposits and retention. they don't want to lose anyone.

I refuse to deal with banks. I prefer credit unions. Customer friendly, they dont have to call some tightwad in a suit in New York, L.A. or Chicago (who doesn't care about you) to get an approval on your loan, they call the President of the CU who lives in the same town who does care about you and your business. you get better interest rates on loans, you get more incentives, and more than anything, you get people who give a damn.

US Bank screwed me out of my 02 Mustang GT. Applied for and received an approval (May 2009) to purchase an 03 Cobra Mustang (used) on the contingency that I used the money from the sale of my 02 Mustang as a down payment. Sold my car, brought my down payment in and was told my loan was not approved, and no one could seem to tell me why. Closed my account with them, and went to Heritage South Community Credit Union, and I've been a 100% happy and satisfied customer ever since.

in regards to moving a bunch of money, take someone with you (who has an HCP and is armed) and have them wait in the car for you, park as close to the front door as you can get, and also take a portable safe with a key or digital lock to secure the money in. something like this. I once got $27,000 in a safe like that from an injury settlement, it all fit in there. Stuck it in a big paper bag and walked out to the car, put it in the trunk, and then left.

My wife works for Suntrust and they don't have postings and nothing is mentioned in company policy even about employees carrying.

I'll second the notion of a Credit Union over any bank. The only problem I have with mine is that I did not join them much earlier in life.

Of course some of them may also be posted so look around.....but do look into a Credit Union they are like day and night from banks, especially the bigger ones.

Thanks for all the replies. I have also heard good things about Credit Unions. I don't do much borrowing of money other than a mortgage, and, to be honest, once it is paid off in a few years, will not borrow again, but I am all about personal service. I have had the same checking account number since 1982 when it was First American and now have 4 personal and 2 business accounts with Regions. I am not a wealthy man, but, if I were to move everything, it would be six figures. Maybe that would be enough to get a response on the issue although I doubt it will. I also have a friend that owns a Pawn shop and jewelry business that regularly carries large sums of cash in and out of Regions. He carries anyway and figures the only way they will know is if his life is in danger. I am not going to admit to breaking the law on a public forum, but lets just say I am of the same opinion, but it is a matter of principle to me. If I could get him to pull his business account as well, it would make a difference.

It's just asinine to me to say, "Come in here with large commercial deposits, but we are scared if you bring your legal handgun". It really pisses me off. I may do as suggested above and pull it in cash, but have them walk me to the car since I cannot have a gun.....

you may try and contact your local police department and see if they would be willing to send an officer to escort you in and out of the bank and to the next bank. they may or may not do it, but it's worth a shot considering you will be transporting a large sum of cash which could potentially arouse criminal minds to plot and plunder.

or perhaps they know of an off duty officer who would be willing to escort you for a small fee to guarantee your safety?

In Maryville and Lenoir City, they are also posted with a sign that says to remove hats and sunglasses.

I want to and tried to move banks but can't get another because my now Ex got us in some kind of system that banks check

when you open new accounts that show us (Me) as bad credit or something or other. I tried to open one with Alcoa Federal Credit Union

and that's what they said. I haven't tried any others yet.

I bank at Regions. I've actually had an account with them for about 15 years now. Well I actually opened my account at a different bank but then it merged a few times & ended up as Regions.

The fact that they dont allow carry has never really bothered me on a personal level. I can probably count on 2 fingers the number of times I've actually been INSIDE a bank in the past few years. My paychecks are all direct deposit & I just use my debit card to pay for everything. If I do have to deposit a check or something we just go by the window.

I guess I could change my bank just on the principle of the matter that they dont allow carry in their branches. It would just be such a pain though to change all my direct debit bills over & everything. I guess I'm just not a true hardcore carry supporter yet. :D

My dad used to send me to the bank every friday with the weeks deposits...in a paper bag. He got a massive payout from a case he won. I got to carry it...in a bag...by my self. Ya know...in the 6 or seven years he sent me to the bank...I never looked in the bag. The bank manager always was waiting for me and there was always a deposit slip in the bag. This one time..the managers eyes got big and instead of taking it to a teller...he took it in his office and counted it on the spot.

Regions is the only bank i've seen in the Memphis area with signs up that could be legal. The funny thing is the Regions branches in Arkansas and Mississippi don't have signs up that I've noticed.

I have been to a Regions branch that did not have the signs up on both entrances, so in my opinion legal to carry.

We have Suntrust, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, First Tennessee, Bancorp South, Renesant as far as good sized banks in this Memphis area. I haven't seen anything that would legally keep you from carrying in those banks in Tennessee. I carry when I go to the bank and wouldn't let a bank keep me from carrying when I'm carrying money. I do conceal a small handgun so no one knows. Stay safe when you get your money out.

Dropped Regions last week. Besides the gun buster sign I don't agree with their other policy about charging you a fee if you don't use your checking account at least 25 times a month. They can charge you $5 or so per month for a usage fee.

No biggie anyways. Have been an Ascend( AEDC FCU) member for 35 years and am a Redstone FCU member as well. Both places are not posted and I have not ever had a problem going to either place.

First Tennessee isn't posted, matter of fact they list a HCP as a valid secondary form of ID

If you haven't done so yet, when you do close your account you should ask for a police escort away from that bank to the bank or credit union you are going to. I have know of stores asking for police escorts when they make deposit runs, why not ;) Just kidding.

I have also had better service from credit unions then banks. I find Credit Unions far more friendly and the credit union I currently use if gun friendly, word is, from the president is they will not ban guns. I carry in the allot.

Wow, such drama.

I'm going to go way out on a limb here and suggest that along with electricity, automobiles, and shoes, middle Tennesseans also can get cashier checks.
