I lost one too. Sad day here.

I just had to have my dog put down. Very aggressive cancer. She raised our kids and had been with us 15 years.

I sometimes wonder if the only creatures entitled to go to heaven might not be dogs.

Dang, man.

I've got a 14 year old 'pound rescue' whose respirations and pulse I must confirm, each morning I walk out to go to work.

I'm not sure dogs go to heaven, but if given the choice, I'd take Poncho.

My very heartfelt condolences for you and your family, Raoul. I still miss my lost companions as well. The love and friendship they give can't be understood by those who don't love them, but they give us the closest thing to God's unconditional love that we'll find on this earth.

Cherish the memories. I do believe you will meet again.

^^^ Well put. Sad to hear this. True that we all still feel the sting of those we've lost ourselves. Take care.

I too have a dog that is in the final stages of his life. He is in congestive heart failure.

I know that I will soon have to have him put down and it will be terrible.

I have no doubt dogs go to heaven and Harley will be waiting for me at Rainbow Bridge.

Dog is God spelled backwards; that can't be a coincidence. :D

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

It always makes me feel better when I see that... I hope it does you too.

My condolences as well. No friend can be truer than a good dog. I have had a few over the years, and still miss them from time to time. Hope that the kids are holding up alright.

Thanks all. I'm gonna continue to work on this bottle of bourbon.

It's pretty amazing to me the feelings we have for our pets. Dogs especially. Remarkable bond between humans and dogs.

My heart goes out to you. Nothing hurts like losing a devoted companion. I hope to see mine again someday

She was a much better person than I'll ever be.

Jeepers Mate - I am so sorry for your loss. But your furry friend will meet up with again, at Rainbow Bridge.

Hang in there - the pain will lessen and the good memories remain.

Deepest condolences

The 7Dogguy (who now is really 5 dog guy, due to the same sad event over the last 8 months as you just had)
